Girls I need help. The Mr. proposed with this beautiful antique ring but to me it really doesn't look like and engagement ring. Yes I love it and it was the first ring I want to keep it but I want a different one. Am I being selffish. Another thing is how the ring is cut on the sides i would have to have a custom wedding band made and attached to my ring now and I wouldn't be able to wear them seperatly. What do you guys think?

How about you wear this until you are married and buy a whole new set for the wedding?

One advice is be very careful how you present this to your fiance. He might have spend a great deal of time picking this ring out hoping you would love it. It might hurt his feelings.

Good luck.

I think the ring looks very unusual and special. I have a solitaire ring but it's untraditional because it has a pear shaped diamond. I get so many questions and compliments purely because it's unusual. I love your ring and I think it looks lovely on your finger but if you really don't like it, maybe you can raise the subject gently to your fiance. Good luck whichever choice you make.

Pardon me if I sound like a *itch...but...
Does it really matter if the ring looks the part of an engagement ring?
My fiance proposed with a very unique and different ring also. He spent some time picking it and paying for it. I love it to piece and I wouldn't dream of asking, or looking for a different one.  Look into your possibilities for wedding bands. I also have to get a custom wedding band made, but we're using one of my mother's old rings to have them melt down and use the gold and possibly the diamonds from it. If you love that ring, just go with that. I don't see the need for another one. Most people get their engagement ring soldered to their wedding band anyway so they don't wear them separately.
But that's just my two cents.

I haven't completely decided yet, but I'm thinking about getting a nice wedding band and never (well, hardly ever) wearing them together.  So I'll have my engagement ring and my wedding ring, and I'll just pick which one I want to wear based on the day, the activity, etc.  If you like your engagement ring and are just worried about how a band will fit, or if you want to get another nice ring, you could just get a wedding band you like and not attach the rings together.

I think it's beautiful and as long as you like the ring you should wear it. I had to do without my engagement ring for two weeks while they made a band to match. I think if you go to a good jeweller they can do wonders in creating a band to go along with the ring. I'm sure it would look great.

I think you are being a little spoiled.... I can;t believe how many people get married because of a ring other than for more important reasons, like LOVE, for example.  Not saying thats the case, but is a ring really that important?  or the fact that you prince charming proposed to you and wants to spend the rest of his life with you?
We skipped the whole engagement ring thing and instead put money down for our beautiful house, and my wedding band is as plain as it gets, but the only thing that matters is that it is a reminder that I am married to the most wonderful man on earth!!!!
PS(We've been married for 7 yrs, now, but we are finally having our wedding now!)

I choose my e-ring based on the fact that it was very unqiue and different from all of the other ones out there.  I like something different and I will also need to have a band custom made but that's ok because I love it.  I guess to each their own.  But if you really don't want it and want another one - maybe in a few years for an anniversary gift?!?!
