music
Only three songs so far, but it's a start
I think I like the idea of "I wanna hold your hand" playing while us girls are walking down the aisle.

Doug and I both really like this cover-it's slow enough to walk to and has meaning. The second song is "Feet Don't Touch the Ground" covered by Stoney LaRue- my FAVORITE singer. I always knew I wanted this to be the song we have our first dance to. The next song is Wade Bowen's "Who I Am." It's a great wedding song by another one of my favorite singers so I have to put it somewhere in our reception. If you don't know these songs, you should listen to them (and and anything else by these artists. They're local to my area but getting more wide spread n popular by the day.

Cheap flower girl dresses!
God bless ebay!
Someone suggested earlier to me that I try looking at Target for cheap Easter dresses to use, but I couldn't find any that were just perfect-although the price was.
My genius brain then decided to look on ebay and I found it! A flower girl dress for $15! You can't beat that with a stick. It looks like the lady also sells the accessories and the dresses come in multiple colors including plain white.
Look her up. She has a good rating: butterflyxc.

Bridesmaids
too many choices, not enough of the colors I want
Is anyone else doing an olive green? I can't seem to find more than 2 dresses in that color and I don't want all of my bridesmaids in blue. Maybe I should sway a little bit and let more greens in. I dunno.

For now, these are some of the dresses that I like in the colors that I like. (David's Bridal doesn't allow you to save theirs-thank goodness-or there would be more)

getting closer
I found this one in a magazine today and really liked it. It's getting closer to what I want. I think I'll set up an appointment to try it on tomorrow.

new day, new colors
Ok, so when I was searching around for some oranges and yellows that would look good together to paint my wish/card box, I couldn't decide. The oranges were too bright and the yellows I liked were too dull. I decided I didn't want my boxes looking like traffic cones or ducks...n it hit me. If my box looks like that, so will the rest of my wedding...and bridesmaids-like big waddling ducks. So, I decided to pick up some stickers with a group of colors I thought worked well together and paint my box es according to them.

SO! At least for the next 24 hours, I have decided to change my colors back to the green (olivine) I originally wanted to use and pool blue. I will use brown (and possibly more!) as accents. I picked out these invitations as an idea to how I want everything to look....for now. :)

Happiness
I'm so glad I stumbled across this site
So far, from all the creative minds on this site, I've found many additional things I'd like to add to my reception. Thankfully, the ideas I like aren't too expensive, but will be different from any wedding I've attended.

I'm making myself a money/ wish box. I liked the idea of the money box and the wishing tree and just decided to go ahead and combine them together. It's not exactly as pretty as the ones I've seen mass produced, but it's made with lurv.

Candy bar! Who doesn't like candy? I especially like that someone pointed out you could get the dishes from goodwill to serve it up in! Now I just need to find some little scoopies.

Sparklers! What a beautiful idea for a night time ceremony. Hopefully, wherever our reception is, they will allow us to do this.

Thank all of you creative minds out there. I fully intend on ripping off your good ideas in the future. :)

Help!
I've been trying on and looking for dresses for a year and a half now. I thought I had found one at David's Bridal that was colorful, a-line, and figre flattering. However, after branching out and realizing that there are more bridal shops out there, I think I have changed my mind.

I can't find what I really want. The closest I am coming is this first dress. I want it to have cap sleeves, am empire waist, a low scoop style neckline, and lace that seperates at the empire waist line. (all of which this dress has) The only thing I want differently from this dress is for it to flare out more on the sides and in the front and not hug my not size 2 body. I want it to be more Grecian style. I want it to look very romantic and feminine and have a style like something you'd see in a costume movie from the 1860's. I' ve searched and searched. If you have any idea of how to find what I'm looking for, lemme know.

I picked out the second dress because it's simple in the front and the back has that old style I'm looking for. I really like the back but I'm not sure that it's the one either.,

While I'm deciding, feel free to check out my line up of the different styles I'm looking at and tell me what you think.

my flower girl and ring bearer
Flower girl dress
for the most beautiful princess in the land
I'm having a hard time deciding on a flower girl dress because most are tailored for younger children. (mine's 8) They're also mainly all pure white and while that's ok, I'd like a little color on her dress. Besides, Makenzie, much like her mommy, wouldn't look right in something that was all white.

So far, all the dresses I seem to like cost $150 or more. That's just craziness! Maybe I'll learn to sew before I get married.

I love these
I just came across these when I googled wedding centerpieces. I like these because they're really pretty yet look cheap and simple to assemble.

And the winners are.....
I haven't asked anyone since the time I thought I was going to be getting married last year, but I did ask at one time all three of these girls.

Unless there is an unexpected change, Casey, Dawn, and Liza will be in my wedding party.

Casey-because we spend every Saturday together already, so why should the Saturday I get married be any different.

Dawn- because she's my sister and she made me. Oh and cause she's just like me.

Liza- she's one of my oldest friends that I still talk to and on the occasions that we do find the time to get together, we have a lot of fun.

Bridesmaids
Just an Idea
David's Bridal has this program where you can create the wedding party by putting people in the pictures and using the colors and dresses/ tuxes you like to coordinate em.

I wasn't able to save the picture from the website, so I had to copy the property of every image, enter it into the address bar, save it on my desk top from there, open them with photo editor, cut and paste them on paint and save them as a jpeg. This is why the photo that goes with this blog looks a little wonky.

I really like the style of all these dresses and think it would be nice to have at least one use more than one color to tie them together.

For my bridesmaids, if you can't figure out which one you are, sorry. I am no artist.

Hair Style
Sometimes you gotta compromise and do what the man wanna do
Since until recently I've had long hair, I've always thought about wearing it down when we got married. However, Doug has told me he wants me to wear it up and I figure since my hair is a lot shorter now, I guess I wouldn't look like Marge Simpson. So...I've decided on a hairstyle I like. I don't want it to look too polished or perfect and I'm pretty sure I want it curly. I found a picture on the internet that is similar to what I picture and then I found one that I really like. Call me corny, but I foud it in a movie....along with the style of dress I think I want. (but that's a story for another blog)

Doug likes his women just a little on the trashy side
Well, I don't want to pass out candy or the typical bubbles and I can't really afford to give out something too nice, so I think I've decided on a couple of things that I think really suit the two of us.

I don't think I really have to explain any of these, if you know us, you'll understand.

I also really liked this plain guest book and the fact that it comes in orange.

Lastly, I want Doug and I to each make a cd to leave on the tables and people can pick whichever one they want to take home. (mine of course cause I have better taste in music)

the faust
The Reception
The Faust
It's everything I want...and not.
Doug and I think we have decided on the Faust unless something better falls into our lap. It is a little pricey, but a lot cheaper than most places that have similar packages. The thing we love the best- they do it all for us and then clean it up!
We originally liked the idea of having it more down to earth with barbeque and a margarita machine and 2 classy kegs of beer. We wanted to find a hall and try and do everything ourselves, but I brought up the important issues of setting up, decorating, and cleaning up. We're not gonna have time for all of that and I don't want to make anyone else have to do it for us. Besides, who could pass up the menu options of grilled london broil or scaloppini of chicken?? Lastly, the Faust is beautiful and if people have a little too much to drink, they don't have to drive home.

camera
Photography
So much money, so little time
I've had a huge dilemma in trying to figure out what to do about the photography. It's near impossible to find people to take pictures and put together an album for less than $2000. Why in the world would I want to pay that much just for pictures? I don't care how good they are.

Then I thought, well I'll just get my sister to take pictures because she's good at it and has an awesome camera, but I wanted her to be in my wedding party, so that was crossed out.

Then I've had everyone suggest to me to just have someone we want there to take pictures, but who wants to come to a wedding to enjoy themselves and get stuck taking pictures all night long? Not to mention, anyone I would invite to my reception would most likely be drunk by the end of the night and I think that might reflect in the quality of the photos. Hmmmm...

So, unless someone can give me a better suggestion, I think we're leaning towards Portraits Express and Cakes @ SanAntoniophotos.net. They're a small bit cheaper at least...

Cake
It's all coming together now!
While looking for flowers, I stumbled across a simple cake that is what I want and it had the flowers I want on it. If we go with the Faust, they provide a white cake, so I would just throw a few flowers on it. Of course, I'd prefer it to be square like this one is, but I'm sure it will be plain ol round. On the other hand, if we end up having our reception somewhere else- I can have my cake!

I found a second funky one I also like-of course the colors would be different.

For Doug's cake, I've always loved the idea of it being guitar shaped. Of course, I need to find a cool acoustic one, but this is just an example for now.

I also included a picture of a bitchin guitar cake topper. Dunno if we'd actually end up using it, but I know I don't want the standard bride n groom on the top of my cake.

now that I have my colors...
I really wanted to do tulips, but I think having different flowers would make my bouquet look better. I really like the one in the first picture and am definately going to have Makenzie (the flower girl) carry a pomander similar to the one pictured.

While I wanted to stick to my colors of orange n yellow, I think I'm digging the maroon mixed in with them.

Ok, this was actually the first thing I decided on....
I picked these invitiations because:

a) they made sense for us; I love going to concerts and Doug is a rock star.
b) they created a small theme- music and geetars.
b) they're not formal, which is what I'm trying to avoid.
c) they're CHEAP!

So, what do you think?
