Ask a Question
copycat
A little back story before I ask my question: My older sister is about 4 years older than me, and got married in 2004. Now, our family is protestant but havent been to church in years, however I do want to get married in a church. Also, FH and I are paying for the entire wedding ourselves. We both work full time, but we have 2 children and obviously regular bills on top of kids and a wedding. I really want to keep the budget around $5000 if possible, with 100 being the maximum # for the guest list. Now here is my dilemma...

When my sister got married, she found a beautiful baptist church nearby which will marry anyone as protestant, despite their former religion. They paid $300 to use the church, and that was it. This includes using the rooms in the church to get ready, and an organist for the music. A GREAT DEAL. Their reception was about a mile away at this cute little banquet hall on the lake. It's a family run type of place, veryyy reasonable prices. The most expensive buffet option they offer for a wedding is $18 per person and $2.50 per person for a champagne toast. The hall rental fee is $125 for less than 125 people and there is only a $300 non-refundable deposit. Basically, if we did the exact same thing, I would pay like $2500 for the wedding venue, reception venue, and the per person cost for food/toast, which to me seems to be the biggest expense.

My sister says she really doesnt care if I have my wedding and reception at the same places, but I still feel weird even suggesting it. The good thing is that she invited our entire extended family to hers, and in the past 6 years we have drifted away from most of them, so I am literally only inviting about 20 of my family members, and they are all immediate or close family, so I doubt they would judge me for having it at the same place...and all our other guests didnt go to her wedding so they wouldnt even know.

I dont know, I just kinda feel like I'm stealing her entire wedding ideas and I will look so unoriginal...even though its really just the venues, otherwise our weddings will be 100% different. What are your thoughts? Do you think it's weird?

chocolate, truffle, latte
going to alternate truffle and latte colors with simple dresses/sashes for bridesmaids, also somehow posted more pics of wedding dresses I like here as well. Oh well, gotta get used to how to use this site. lol...

I definitely want gold or cream colored embellishments on my dress, and an ivory color as the main color, not white. We already have 2 kids together, the gig is up =P lol

Fall In Love <3
So autumn has always been my favorite season, so we are planning on an October 2011 fall wedding. Chocolate brown and latte colors for dresses/tuxes and bright fall color accents everywhere (red, orange, yellow, etc). I am so excited to start planning :)
