Wedding Planner?
To have or not to have?
With my wedding a year away—I’ve started with a lot of little projects and planning already! We have almost everything booked—excepted a cake but I wasn’t considering getting a wedding planner—but my FI seems to believe that I should look into getting one—because he thinks it will start to be a lot on my shoulders as the date gets closer! I was wondering how many people are actually having wedding planners and what was the deciding factor—for you—to hire one? For those of you who didn’t hire one—why not? I’m personally on the fence about this issue!! I’d love to hear everyone’s opinions!!

* If your wedding date has passed and you didn’t have one—do you think your wedding would have been different with one? If so why?

Thanks in advance!!

I am having one! To me is a MUST have! I am not going to be INTO everything as I would like! I am very perfectionist!

well. I can't spend that much for my wedding so I don't think I'll have one....

I'm sure they're absolutely wonderful to have but the less money i spend on hired help the more I can spend on the actual wedding. Besides I think that I have enough family and friends willing to help that I'll be ok.

but scheri's probably right a wedding planner for the actual day would be a good idea. Keep from you trying to keep averything in order.

It helps so no one else has to do anything and they can just enjoy the day. And your paying money, so they'll do it YOUR way, the right way :)

I have one ONLY for the rehearsel and the wedding day. I have done everything else by myself. I just wanted someone to confirm everything with vendors and direct them; when they come in ont he weddind day. I was really stressed about that day, wondering who would set the tables etc. I didnt want my family to have to do it either. ANyways I feel soooo much better someone is helping me that last week .....!

I was all about doing it all myself but then my sister who had volunteered to help has been too busy to get back to me much. That and I've heard from so many brides how much of a help it is. I'd only get one for the day since I have so much already planned but I'm still on the fence too. There are a lot of women in my family to help but I also want to be sure they get to enjoy the day

Well, at my place, if you want to get married there, they assign you  a planner.  Not one of theirs, but from an actual company.  She will be there the day of and the rehearsal and I have unlimited phone calls and emails and I meet with her like a total of 3 times.  I have faith in myself to get the job done, but its nice to have a professional's opinion on things.  She has been VERY helpful in brainstorming on how to tweak our reception or ceremony slightly, and who is good for us to contact for the vibe and price range we are looking at.

She isn't medling with my stuff, she will only be there when I want her there...it's wonderful!

It's really helpful because she keeps me on track with everything and I don't have to worry about missing dates, etc.
