Groomsmen Gifts
My fiance had this great idea to make groomsmen gift crates, kind of like a manly gift basket. So I told him if he brought me to Home Depot to get supplies, and if he picked out a bunch of stuff to put in them, I would nail together the crates and decorate them and arrange everything inside. And this is what we came up with!

My dress!
Here's the dress I made to wear to my bridal shower next weekend! It's a 1947-style dress, and I finally finished it over the weekend. Now I just have to find a cute little cardigan and some heels...

Bridesmaids Dresses
The final contenders
Ok, here are the three dresses that I found, since the other two (see previous posts) are no longer an option. I love the neckline style on all of them, but we have to pick one! At first myself and my girls liked the one with the flower at the waist (#858), but my MOH tried them on and after seeing her in them, we agreed that the other one (#7053) with the frilly neckline is nicer (more expensive though). The third one (#2761) with the stiffer skirt is one we weren't expecting to find, but it looks cute on the girls and has a little bow at the back of the neck. My MOH and one of my other bridesmaids are going to go and try them on again to make sure, and then we'll let the other two girls know what the decision is. It's so hard with everyone all over the place!!

Wedding Hair Style
my hair fascinator
I finally found the perfect hairpiece! I wanted one with pearls, rhinestones, feathers and some birdcage veil netting , and this one has it all! I found it at a store in downtown Toronto, and fell in love with it. Now that I have it though, I'm debating whether I should even wear a veil, I think this with a veil may be too much. I would like to have my hair as in the picture of Rachael McAdams, but I've also considered a side ponytail with the flower clipped onto it. I would like to have a veil, and my mom suggested just doing the veil at the ceremony and then switching to the fascinator at the reception, but I feel like the fascinator is a key part of the hairstyle. So either no veil, veil and fascinator, or one then the other later??? what do you think?

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
just bought my necklace from Etsy!
I've been looking forever for just the right necklace at an affordable, and this one is it! It's not double stranded like I was originally wanting but I really don't think it matters! I love it! I ordered it from GetNoticed and they are making it in ivory. The brooch on it is beautiful! Can't wait until it gets here :D

DIY Wedding
Table numbers and stands!!
Ok, so I had this idea a really long time ago and finally got these just the way I wanted! I found these cute little jewellery stands from the dollar store months and months ago, and I altered them (which involved me busting out the wire cutters and paint!) to make them just right. I used the same cardstock as my save the dates. Actually I am using it for my invites, place cards, favour tags, etc also.

I had being trying to come up with something cool to do instead of regular table numbers, and something that would go with the vintage theme or that involved music (we are huge into music). Then I thought, what about using the dates as our numbers?! It'll be easy to keep track of and won't be too confusing for guests and goes with our theme!! We'll probably have around 20 tables at the most so we can use 1940-1959....Perfect! And to incorporate our personality a bit we've been scouring lyrics from our favourite bands to include on the cards...just cute little sayings or romantic lines.

Here's what we've come up with so far (if you have any other lyric ideas let me know!! we'll need at least 8 more. we'd like to use them from indie/alternative bands):
1. The National - "you know I dreamed about you for [twenty] years before I saw you"
2. Death Cab for Cutie - "so brown eyes I hold you near 'cause you're the only song I want to hear"
3. The National - "hold ourselves together with our arms around the stereo for hours"
4. The Postal Service - "I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles in our eyes are mirror images and when we kiss they're perfectly aligned"
5. Coldplay - "for you I'd wait 'til kingdom come, until my days are done"
6. The Shins - "lose yourself in lines dissecting love"
7. City and Colour - "Please know that I'm yours to keep my beautiful girl"
8. Matthew Good - "True love will find you in the end"
9. Matthew Good Band - " Baby, if I was in demand, you would be mine"
10. Foo Fighters - "Breathe out, so I can breathe you in, hold you in"
11. Spoon - "Nobody gets me like you"
12. The Flaming Lips - "Do you realize, that you have the most beautiful face?"

Wedding Invitation
new and improved Save The Dates!
I know I posted my save-the-dates before, but that was the prototype. Here is what the finalized ones look like...I've already sent some out! I bought all of the card stock from Michaels and the ivory pearl-lace from Fabricland for a steal! And my fiance cut out little strips of magnets that we stuck on the back of the cards! Including the envelopes I was able to make each one for $0.33, which makes me VERY happy! And we've been able to hand-deliver almost half of them so we save on postage.

Wedding Flowers
decided to be my own florist!
Initially I had decided to attempt to make my own bouquets because I really wanted anemone flowers and knew that real ones would be expensive and hard to come by, and the beautiful silk bouquet I found was more than $200. So I told myself "self, you could totally make something like that!" and I did, minus the anemone flowers. I ordered individual anemones from Aflorals.com and they were very cheap looking. I went to Michael's and bought these beautiful peonies, roses, daisies, tulips, and pearl-centred stephanotis. And with some floral tape, wire, satin ribbon, and corsage pins, I successfully made my own bouquets, bridesmaids bouquets, and boutonierres!! I'm also going to use the daisies in my centrepieces!

Also, we met with a decorator for the head table and besides using a couple of my centrepieces, I won't need flowers up there either because she has some beautiful willow branch arrangements! So really, the only flowers I may need to get from a florist are a couple of arrangements for the church. And I may even just make those myself depending on the price!

I'm so excited about my creations! Mine is the one with the pink peonies, and my bridesmaids have the all white/ivory bouquets

also, these bouquets have travelled a few times since I live in two cities, and I just had to bring them home to show my mom, so I intend to spruce them up a bit since the corsage pins are a bit wonky, and the boutonierre here is a prototype/first attempt...I still have lots of time to work on them and will repost better pictures of everything when I do!!!

Upcoming posts...
slacking on the blog...
In the last little while, I've been realizing some of my wedding ideas by getting my butt in gear and actually making/coordinating things. I will be posting stuff soon: my bouquets, boutonierres, garter, finalized save-the-dates, invite ideas, centrepieces, linens, and other decor plans.

And now for my excuse as to why I'm such a slacker when it comes to my blog (I've been doing better though!): so ~4 months ago we moved to our lovely little apartment in Toronto, since my FH got a great job. I was finished grad school and was looking for a job as a research tech or associate. I finally got a job offer about a month after we moved to TO, however it was 2hr away in London, ON. I took the job anyway, but the timing was pretty bad...so now I live at my aunt's house in London during the week and commute back to TO on the weekends....gahhhhhhhh. Needless to say I'm exhausted and disorganized and I can't stand it because I like to have things just so.

I guess the point of my rambling story is that I've been able to accomplish things for the wedding but I have crap here, there, and everywhere, and I need to take pictures of certain things, etc, etc. But soon enough I will get everything on here....and I WILL need your opinions about the things I've put together!
