Wedding Dress
Just ordered my Starlettas!
Cost me $330 at my local boutique but I know it's well worth it. These Angela Nuran shoes are designed by a ballroom dancer (Angela) and they are the most comfortable shoe I've ever tried on. I have weak, wobbly ankles and as soon as I put these on my ankles straightened out and were secure. And did I mention they are 4" heels with a 1" platform? They certainly don't feel like it when they are on. They are meant to be worn the ENTIRE day without a bride thinking of her feet. I am so excited for them to come in!!!!!

Wedding Reception
Idea for behind the wedding party table
I love this look- sheer curtains with string lights behind it. It's dreamy. It'd create a little world of wonder at the reception. This would be awesome behind the band/DJ, too.

Centerpiece Ideas
Still no official date yet, but I'm hoping P is discharged from the military soon! It's been almost 6 months since they've been playing around with his discharge papers. I am getting tired of waiting. I really hope December 18, or another fall date in 2010 will work out for us.
In the meantime my dress is in and it's PERFECT, and we ordered an extra long veil that is longer than my train. These are just some center piece ideas I'm adding to my portfolio of brainstorming. I'd like to alternate the short center pieces with tall ones on every other table. So short flowers and short candles on one table, then tall flowers and tall candelabras on the other table. |

Church
Our church
At least we know where the ceremony will be since our church is flexible! Hopefully December 18 will work out!
Funny story- so FH and I were at mass one Sunday and since he's not Catholic yet he doesn't go up to get communion with me. So he got up to let me out, then as I was coming back up the aisle to take my seat again he stood up and waited there... just like he would be standing in the front of the church on our wedding day!! I started silently laughing and also teared up, b/c I was walking towards him and he was standing, waiting for me. Omg, I got so teary eyed because it was all so real. Totally funny and amazing at the same time. I know on our wedding day I'll lock eyes with him at the opposite end as I prepare to be walked up and completely lose it. ;) |

Catherine-Zeta Jones wedding
So I just loooooove using Grace Kelly's wedding as inspiration, but I felt refreshed when I found pics of Catherine-Zeta Jones wedding and I saw that same style but more modern. That's exactly what I'm trying to do. My dress is very similar to Catherine's and Grace's but it's strapless, and I'll have the 3/4 length veil over my face with a floor-length veil trailing behind me. I just love that sacred, mysterious look to over-the-top gowns with thick veils!! I think it's such a gorgeous tradition that's so versatile from decade to decade. Can't wait for my fitting in May!

Wedding Reception
Elkins Estate, Elkins Park, PA
More brainstorming as dates become booked up and I'm left in the cold!! I'm not ruling out estates outside of Philly now. This one is gorgeous.
http://www.elkinsestate.org/ UPDATE: The ballroom needs work. It basically looks like a barn!!! And this photo is actually of the amazing lobby, which is BEYOND awesome! But the lobby is only good for cocktails- not a full reception. So, I must scratch this estate off my list. There's no way I'm dancing with my new husband to our first dance under wooden rafters! It's always been my dream to have a chandelier with a pretty ceiling. |

Wedding Reception
The Downtown Club, Philadelphia, PA
Saw the Downtown Club today (http://www.downtownclub.com/), and it's gorgeous! So Old-World and classy... totally reflects Philadelphia's history. Their package was VERY reasonable compared to other ballrooms in the city. And I'm very happy their wedding cakes come from Termini Brothers (http://www.termini.com/). And the views of the city... omg... the views from their ballroom are spectacular. Would be gorgeous for an evening wedding. Their ballroom is a better fit for my 150-person guestlist, rather than the big ballrooms I've fallen in love with. I still haven't ruled out those big ballrooms, yet! The quest continues...
Tomorrow I will be checking out The Union League of Philadelphia. |

Wedding Reception
XIX at the Bellevue
So, yeah... this is my newest obsession. XIX Restaurant at Hyatt at the Bellevue in Philadelphia. The pearl ceiling... omg. The only drawback is that they might have a limit of 120 people. It's a restaurant in the hotel that you could rent out for the reception. And there's a balcony that overlooks the city from 19 stories up. So... cut the guest list by 20 people (kids?) or hope that not all of our 145 guests show up? I want this ballroom but with the capacity for 150! Oh well... my venue quest continues....
UPDATE: This space only accomodates 95 people and without a dance floor. Why can't they put that ceiling in a ballroom? ;) PEarls!!! |

Decided on the pew decor
So the wedding will be in the church (not outside like the pic) but I LOVE the draped tulle that they did in this pic. I'd have it exactly like this, and with the round bouquets about every 10th pew. I figured maybe six for the whole church- 3 on each side. I'm glad I decided on this since it was really bugging me that I wasn't sure what I really wanted for decorating the church. And I figured if it gets pricey then we can just add more tulle and have less frequent bouquets, so maybe one at each end instead of 6 total.

Wedding Music And Songs
Love these programs for the ceremony
More brainstorming! Love these programs. They are printed with the entire mass and music included. Perfect for non-Catholic guests so they can follow along and feel included on what's going on. Plus, they are just completely awesome. So elegant and intricate.
