Wedding Budget
Wedding on a Dime!!

If you follow me on WBC you know I'm expecting. We are also planning on moving into a new home soon after the baby is born. And if our budget stays on to T then we will be able to go on a mini honeymoon. So I will definitely be watching every penny and saving tremendously.

What I'm doing to save money on our wedding...
1. SMALL GUEST LIST - limited to 75 of our immediate family and very best friends.
2. LOTS AND LOTS OF DIY PROJECTS
3.Dress in the $400 to $600 range
4. Make up/ hair being done by family member
5.VENUE ALLOWS OUTSIDE ALCOHOL - I would never have guests pay fir drinks. But bar prices were expensive. We will have a HIS signature drink and a HERS signature drink, standard Margaritas, beer, and Rum and Coke. That shld cover it. I'm sure ppl won't fuss if we don't hv "their drink". Again, only inviting real friends and fam. We are toasting with our favorite MOSCATO!!!
6. Family making food in a buffet style way.
7. Aunt is my wedding planner

Isn't it annoying when people don't comment? lol. My friend actually set mine up so  I can see who views and doens't, kind of annoying, lol.
ANYWAY...it sounds like you have a plan to sticking to a budget, that's great! My dress was only $300, huge money saver. And I am doing my own flowers and alot of DIY projects like programs, etc. Our splurge was a candy buffet, but everything else has been below budget! It also helps to have time that you can catch sales and deals. Good luck!! :)

The budget that I'm working with is basically as low as we can go and still have a very small and simple wedding. We are going to be keeping our guest list on the small side too and I plan on doing a lot of diy projects. I'm also planning on doing our centerpieces because that can be a huge expense. Especially if you get them through a florist. And our wedding cake will probably be coming from the grocery store.

Our venue also allows outside alcohol. That's one of our big ways because both families drink to high heaven!!
I'm saving money on alterations by having my aunt alter my dress and any of my bridesmaids' dresses of they need it.
We are also using silk flowers instead of real flowers, but silk flowers can look just as good, or even better than, real flowers!

I am doing the same thing. Doing a lot of DIY projects for the wedding and a limited open bar. We are doing buffet style food and a friend is my wedding coordinator.

Sounds like you're doing  a good job with your budgeting. Who says you can't have nice things and a nice wedding in this economy? Make it happen, hun. :-)

We wanted a candy bar too, but the decided to incorporate the candy bar and the centerpieces together. Using some fancy vases (from the dollar store!) 3 on each table and some candles. We will have 10 tables, for a total of 30 types of candy. each table will be numbered and have a "candy map" (ex: table 1- smarties, lollipops, and jelly beans) we bought some cool print paper bags and glued some card stock in the shape of a heart with our names and wedding sate on it. The bags will be with each table setting.
This way guest are encouraged to go from table to table and meet each other, while getting candy. The candy is our wedding favor. All together, for 12 centerpieces (10 tables, and two on the head table) vases, candy, candles, etc $100!! Also, I volunteered for a board member position (14 hours for the YEAR) with our community league, and in return I get the hall for free, not even deposits!! That's a saving of$1100 dollars

I found a big way to save money is to not have your wedding on the weekend.  I choose to have my wedding on a Thursday night!  And then I found the cheapest venue, d.j., florist etc... I'm also doing many many DIY projects including the invites which I made myself from the pocket folds all the way to completely done.
My dress cost $3,600.00 but.... I got it at a trunk show for $534.00 with tax! The venue is costing us $675.00 the food & open bar for 75 people is $2827.55 flowers will be $800.00 cake is $600.00 pastor $350.00 and photography is $825.00(includes bridal, engagement sessions, and whole day of wedding & rehearsal dinner) D.J. will be $1019.00 with up lighting & includes both ceremony & reception.

Wow! Love the candy  idea for tables! And love the Thursday night idea! We are doing family and really close FREINDS as well. Which will put us somewhere between 100 to 150! I want my wedding and reception at the same venue. Hoping that will cut a great deal. My friends are doing invitations and flowers my first cousin is an interior designer. Shes so great so Im not asking for a cheaper price for her work. If she offers that would great! My dress can't be included in the budget because it just has to be want I absolutely love. Tho im looking desperately and praying for a great price range. Food is a toss up. My family can do it with their eyes closed and it would be SOOOOO much of a cut! But I kinda want them to sit back and enjoy my day with me. Cake I want cute and simple. And photos nice and simple. Reading my post im not so sure if im cutting as much As I will have to.....lol  Im sure he's not going to wave any on the budget!
