An Alternative To Peonies?

After visiting with a friend over the weekend who recently got married herself, I was pretty bummed to hear that Peonies are only in season from May-June.

After doing a little research, I found that there are lots of alternatives to Peonies, most of them being in the rose family. Let me also explain to you that I HATE typical roses, but these are absolutely gorgeous!

Decisions, decisions!

WOW! i love the cabbage rose, it totally looks like a peony. The peony is my flower of choice for my bouquet also, but depending on what month we get married in i might be out of luck also. my first choice for wedding month is september, and then i wont be able to get my peonies...good to know that i could just go with the cabbage rose. Thank you so much for posting that!!!

You're very welcome!
I'm in love with the Cabbage Rose now too! I still can't believe how much it looks like a peony...I just hope they aren't too expensive!

Peonies are my favorite flowers and in the spring I have (5) different colors.  Unfortunately I had to have my wedding after Brian's niece Deana.  So I had a August wedding.

Check out my flowers had the same soft flowy feel as peonies.

When I went for my 1st appt. with my florist she explained the same thing. I love the Cabbage & Garden roses. Another flower she showed me that I want to incorrporate into them is the cymbidium orchid, they are sooo pretty!

Thankyou so much for this, I was kind of.. devastated when I found out I couldn't have Peonies in my bouquet - because they're so lovely! Now I can ask if they perhaps stock these alternatives :)
