Wedding Cake
Is anyone doing a cupcake tree?

I'm considering having a cupcake tree for my wedding guests instead of spending a lot of money on a big cake. Me and the FH will have a small 2 tier cake for ourselves. I found a great cake bakery that will do a dollar a cupcake or 1 dozen for 10.50. You can have chocolate or white cake with either buttercream, white alomond or chocolate icing. It seems so much cheaper than a big 4-tier cake but i'm just not sure if it will be tacky or not? hmm...

I am! if done right its not tacky at all.... i love cupcakes and not so much cake so im opting that way, i like the individual size so people will take one or take them home. I think they are cute! im biased tho

cupcakes are a hit! just make sure you get about a dozen and so extra than you think you need. Checkout my page to see some pics of ours. It looked very classy not tacky ;).

Im going one step further..... a wedding cake...Banana with butter cream icing, ( made one on the w.e.was to die for!) which is what Len wants, A chocolate cake for me and the other chocolate lovers, A Diabetic chocolate cake for my son..... and for the kids in the neibourhood, white cup cake tree with the same icing as our cake.     And Im doing all of it myself!

We had them and everyone loved it.  Even my grandma, who calls it shacking up when you live with the person and not married. lol  She was very traditional and loved.  So yeah, not tacky at all!  We also had a 6 in cake for us to cut and had cupcake wrappers so the plain old cupcake wrapper didn't show.  I have a pic of the cupcake wrapper, but if you want a pic of the cupcakes with the wrapper send me a message and I'll forward you a pic.  I haven't posted any of the final pictures.

I am amazed you found someone do them that cheap. But good for you I am doing a cupcake wedding in Oct. with a 6 inch cutting cake. I think they are fabulous everyone gets their own serving and the chances of it getting eaten are so much better. So go for it it is sure to be a hit!
