Out of Town Baskets?
I know I have a ways to go, but I want to start getting things together for the wedding so I don't have to make huge purchases near the big day!

I'm wanting to put together out of town baskets for my guests but I'm not sure what to leave in the baskets... what do people usually put in these things and where do you leave it? In their hotel room?

Help!

Ooh, I can help with this.  I just got back from my cousin's destination wedding in Michigan.  In our hotel rooms she had beach buckets (it was on a beach) with info. about the town (little guides with restaurants, hiking trails, things to do, etc.), water bottles, fudge from Michigan, salt water taffy from Virginia (where they're from), kleenex for the ceremony (it had a cute saying on it like "If weddings make you cry, here's something to help dry your eyes"), and an invitation for their open house the day after.  It was pretty cute.

Just went to a wedding out of town-The baskets were left at the front desk, when we checked in we told them we were there for wedding. In our basket (not a beach wedding) was 2 small bottles of wine (airplane Size) and 2 plastic flutes, chocolate's, crackers, and cookies, mints, tylenol, mouthwash, water bottles, and flavored tea bags.  Sounds like a lot of stuff but Keep in mind-this stuff is small, like a pack of cookies and crackers that you would pack for a childs lunch and those mini poland spring bottles.  It was very very nice and i think we used everything..and ate everything

For our destination wedding we are giving information on local things to do, water, homemade english muffin loaf and jam and packets of coffee, hot chocolate and tea.

Ours is not a destination wedding but alot of our guests are from out of town. So far for the bags, we have custom water bottles, candles, kleenex, TUMS ( I have a friend in the biz) some maple candy's (very canadian).  I am trying to find some mints that I like, and I'm making homemade banana bread for each bag. I like the idea of adding small bottles of wine or even shot glasses and some little airplane bottles of fun drinks. Also my inlaws are donating gift certificates for the local coffee shop.
