Wedding Dress

so confused about the dress. well im not confused about what style i want im confused about how to purchase it. to clarify, as you all know i have stated many times in my wedding blog that i am on a budget. the fh husband and i plan on paying for it all. not most of it, all of it. i know what style of wedding dress i want. i.e off white, vintage, lace. i have been looking online and have found some dresses that i have absolutely loved and considered purchasing. well after talking to many brides they have stated that i should try dresses on first to see if i really like that style. im looking to spend 500 MAX on my dress. i really will not spend more than that. its my wedding day and i know its supposed to THE day but i cant justify spending thousands of dollars on a dress that i am going to wear once. so im really confused as what to do. maybe i just dont have the "bride gene" lol so ladies your advice is very much needed. do buy the dress i have seen online and not get chance to try it on before hand or do go to bridal shops and try on sifferent styles in an effort to see if what i wanted has changed??

P.S the pic is the dress the i fell in love with. its from a website lightinthebox.com that was suggested to me by a friend.

I would suggest going to try a bunch of dresses on. If you still have your heart set on the one pictured, then order it. If it's not what you thought when you get it in then sell it.

try something in a similar shape on, see if you can find THE dress in a store somewhere (you don't have to buy it there just see how it looks). You never know what style you will look good in....
I wouldn't buy a dress without trying any on. I'm making mine but I still went to try on other dresses to see what shapes I looked good in. (It's almost more fun cause you can lie about your budget and try on really expensive dresses! hee hee)

I totally understand your concern.  Actually, you sound just like me!  I think you CAN purchase your dress online.  I would suggest that you visit bridal shops.  Try on all kinds of dresses and get your measurements.  When you fall in love with a dress, take down the designer's name and the item number, go back home and look it up on the internet.  I wish I would have done that because today I saw my dress for $311 online!!  I love to save a buck, so that hurt!  Bad!

One more suggestion....if you really like that dress you posted, go online and ask the vendor who the maker is.  Call the maker and asked them which dress shops sell their dress.  Take a visit to the dress shop, try it on, and if you love it, buy it online.
