First thing I did was I came up with an idea of what I wanted and used regular white paper. I trimmed the white paper into the size and style I wanted to do mine. I practiced. I did layered horizontal and vertical styles. I even tied it with a piece of ribbon to see how it would look. After I decided to do mine vertical and to save paper and work I did this:
For the backing paper I used the purple-colored one. I trimmed the paper by half making it 5.5x 9.75 in. So for each piece of paper I got 2 program backings.
Then I trimmed the pages for the program by half making them 5.5 x 8.5 in. I used cream cardstock. I had 5 pages (5.5x8.5) in mine: Front, Wedding Ceremony, Wedding Party, In our Thoughts, Timeline.
-Then I divided all of the bunches of paper into 5 piles and counted them to make sure they are the same amount.
-The first pile (front) I trimmed it again to be 5.5x6.5 in.
-The second pile (Wedding ceremony) 5.5x7in.
-The third pile (Wedding party) 5.5x7.5in.
-The fourth pile (In our thoughts) 5.5 x8in
-The fifth pile (Timeline) no need to cut its the right size! YAY xD
After having them all cut you need to print them. I practiced with white paper. I did my own template using the ideas I liked from others that I saw. I still have my file if you want to use it as a guideline.
I printed them 10 pages at the time. My printer is good but if youre printing a lot sometimes it tries to eat a lot of paper and it prints it way out of line.
-After having the programs all printed out you need to organize them and then add the purple backing paper. Bend the extra 1 inch piece on the top, so it holds all together nicely.
-Then puncture the holes at the top so you can tie your ribbon. USE A GOOD HOLE PUNCHER THINGY. I got mine from the dollar store and broke 2 lol they bend easy and ugh my hand hurt so much.
-Tips: Patience, use a good paper trimmer, a good hole puncher.
I really hope this can help you, if it sounds too complicated, message me and I will email you my program template and try to give you better instructions. Hugz!
@ faithsophi - OMG that is wonderful, I am definitely going to contact you. I would love for you to send me your template b/c I have a template using 4 sheets of paper, but I really wanted 5. Thanks!!!!!!
But I am glad you pointed out this problem because I did not think about that as a problem when i get ready to do the actual invitation and I wanted to do the layered look as well.
Thanks for the heads up, and great idea msfrancois, I will be in touch.
