Wedding Hair Style
Hair trial
I had my hair trial yesterday.A really good old friend of mine does my hair, but she's going to be on a cruise during my wedding, so she can't do it.
So, I had her do my hair up and we took lots of pictures to show the girl who does my hair on my wedding day. I like it a lot, I'm just not sure if I love the front. I don't want it "slicked" down or to the side, so that's why she did it sort of "messy" ... but I'm not sure about it. What do you think? |

Wedding Budget
Huge sigh of relief
So, FH and I have had some financial setbacks lately, putting us WAY behind in paying for our wedding. A couple days ago I decided to cancel the whole thing. I broke down, decided it was "ridiculous" and that we didn't need it. We're already really married already, after all.. so I felt that all this money spent on a wedding is just for show. I basically decided to stop paying deposits and everything because I felt like if we were going to cancel it anyway, that it would be ridiculous to keep paying out money.
Well, he talked me down out of crisis mode. He also spoke with his father, and his father told him to keep paying for everything, and when we run out of time and money, he'll take care of the rest and we can pay him back later. I hate that we have to be bailed out by Dad... but such a relief that someone has our back. We're 35 years old, have kids, house.... I feel so childish relying on a parent to pay for our wedding. I have definitely scaled back anyways, even with this "bailout plan." I just decided that all this extra stuff.... it's just one day, and noone is really going to remember what kind of steak they had, or what kind of baskets were in the bathroom.... so who cares. I am planning a very simple, classy wedding. With no frills. LOL |

I don't think I ever showed you girls our final decision on the bridesmaids dresses.
The original dress they chose got discontinued, so we had to choose an alternate. I never thought that they'd want floor length, but that's what they all agreed on! The MOH will wear the one shoulder dress and the rest of the BM's will wear the other dress. I really love them both, but really love the MOH dress! |

Sorry I've been MIA
surprise! I'm married!
Well... long story short, FH's company was doing poorly so he decided to jump ship before they went under. So he is hardcore working on getting his business up and going. Bad timing, I know... but we'll manage.
So, this left him with no health insurance and me with a ton of bad feelings about an unsecure financial future. So, we decided one day to give eachother one week to think about a quickie legal marriage. If at the end of the week we both decide it was a good idea, we'd do it. Well, we of course decided YES! So, on Tuesday 5/18 we went to the courthouse and got our marriage license, and we were married on Thursday 5/20. We had NO one there. Just the two of us. Our only witnesses were the woman who married us and her secretary! We decided that this was purely "business" related and our real meaningful wedding is in October, so we didn't want anyone there. We didn't even exchange rings. Funny thing is, from the start of all our wedding planning, I kept saying that I really don't want alot of people invited. I only want him there. And really, I got that!! HAHA So, our wedding is still October. It's still a big beautiful wedding, but some of the pressure is lifted! We haven't really told anyone about the marriage. My mom knows and a couple of my friends, but that's it. |

My FH's sister is getting married May 1st. I am a bridesmaid.
First I have to say that the dress has got to be the ugliest thing I have ever seen. It's black and floor length with a bright read sash. I'll have to get a pic up. Anyways....whatever.... I'll wear whatever My dilemma is that I just picked it up and it doesn't fit! The zipper won't go together when it gets up to my rib cage area! I don't know what I'm going to do! I have to take it to the seamstress anyway, to have about 1 foot taken off the bottom. I wonder if there's something they can do to make it larger up top. This dress must run big time small, because it's the same size as every other dress I have ever worn. I am scared of the cost of all these alterations. The dress cost $200 already. I'm gonna end up paying almost another $200 for freaking alterations. This is more than MY bridal gown cost!!!!!! |

They sell these napkin rings on the website that we used to buy our wine cork place card holders. They were 75 cents each... but how easy to make them!!!
We can buy the corks from the wine store for $6 for 12 of them. Then FH will drill a small hole through it, and I will string ribbon through. Yay!! |

Wedding Favors

FH and I stopped into this new store that opened in our town. It's for home wine makers. We are huge wine lovers, and our reception is at a vineyard. Well... we were talking to the owner, and he does in store wine making classes. You buy a wine "kit" that includes everything to make and bottle about 40 bottles of wine. You do each step right in the store, and they store it there for you while it's aging. Then at the last step, you create your own bottle label and bottle it up. Each kit is around $80 and it costs $85 per couple for the entire process.
We decided that this was definitely our favors! We are going to do two kits, we'll choose one red and one white wine. Then we'll make it all ourselves! How cool is that!?!? We'll make a custom wine label with our wedding date and a picture, and there we have it! I am SOOOO excited! I think it's so cool that something that is so "us" and we're going to make it from scratch, specifically for our guests! Little details are coming together! |
