I'm a married woman!!!
some pictures....
Everything actually turned out perfectly (aside from the massive family fighting) for the ceremony and reception. MGM Grand ran everything smoothly, the music was great, the minister was nice, ceremony went well. Their photographer from Cashman (which sometimes gets bad reviews) was really nice, did all kinds of black and white and old school pictures for us, which we were told we didn't have time for originally.
Our photographer, Laura Graves from Top Banana Studios http://www.vegasbanana.com/ was fantastic! She is so easy to work with and made sure we got absolutely everything we needed, made everyone feel comfortable, etc. I can't wait to see the pictures! The wedding dinner was at Firefly, a little tapas lounge off the strip. It was PERFECT. The food was fantastic, everyone loved it, the colors were right on, the tables were decorated beautifully, the servers were great, and the sangria was so good my family ended up at their new downtown location for more immediately after! We had a blast. |

Wedding Hair Style
Figured out my hair, the cake, the music, and 1000 other things finally! 9 days left!
Wow, the last few weeks has been an absolute whirlwind. I'm getting my hair cut Friday, leaving the length mid-back but getting a lot more and short layers so I can get the perfect curls in the picture. I just love it! I've had this picture in my inspiration file since the very beginning and it stuck with me.
The cake was about to send me over the edge, seriously, how did I get quotes between $250- and $900 on the same little 35 people feeding cake? I ended up going with Retro Bakery of Las Vegas as originally planned, and they are delivering and setting up and all that. Brian has been great to work with. MGM Grand and the wedding planner is driving me nuts...they can't bend on anything at all, they can't do the flowers I want, they can't do the photography I want because it's the weekend, even though I'm willing to pay lots of extra $$, and just uggh. I am getting the exact bouquet I want, but my bridesmaids are carrying three red roses, open and hand-tied because the peonies I wanted would have run me $990 for 3 bridesmaids...the roses are $55 each, which is insane. Never get locked in with a location's florist. I sent out newsletters with the schedule of events in Vegas, free and fun things to do, the wedding party, contact info, etc. I just wanted everyone to be on the same page, and it seemed to be very appreciated. For the ceremony music, we get three songs...the processional is At Last by Etta James, played by a pianist, the ceremony music is I Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis, also on the piano, and the Recessional is Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve! That will be instrumental, and on a CD. It suits us :) My to-do list is seriously shrinking! I need to do a few alterations for me and my brother, package up the bridesmaids gifts all cute, figure out if I have all the clothes I need for the trip, make up a timeline for the wedding party the day of, figure out the bridesmaids hair for sure, and get my hands on a copy of the vows! It's not much actually, I'm so excited! We leave in a week!! |

Bridesmaids
Jewelry/gift-DIY
I was wondering what to get my bridesmaid's for a thank you gift. I also wanted to make sure they have fab jewelry to wear. So I had an idea in mind, dug arounnd for a few examples, and i'm going to try my hand at a DIY. To buy what I want it would end up being about $100, and I should be able to make them for $30 or so. And then I can personalize, and make it special.
I will also get the fascinator's for their hair, but those are for me, pretty sure they won't be used again. |

Wedding Hair Style
messing around, thoughts?
I can't believe I'm posting pictures of myself on the internet without makeup. For the whole world to see. Scary.
Well, this was me bored at home and a just for kicks attempt at my hair. This was done with my three-year-old next to me trying to burn me with the curling iron, so give me a little credit here. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the rolls I want on top for that old-school 40's look. I have a lot of hair, but I'm considering extensions, just to give me more to play with. I dunno. I'm not really loving the veil. I've got to get a white orchid and something sparkly for my fascinator, but this just isn't anything close to what I was picturing. If I get a big poofy 50's veil, I'll have to change up the hair quite a bit, and I really don't want an updo. |

Wedding Invitation
DIY custom boarding pass invites!
Okay, these were sent out forever ago, but I spend days upon days designing and then enlisting FH's help putting it all together.
I used a template found here: http://www.ayleebits.com/2006/06/10/diy-boarding-pass-save-the-date/ The background is Las Vegas circa 1940-something. If anyone needs help designing their own, shoot me a message! These were impossible to get a good pic of, I need to remember to take a good picture outside later! |

Transportation
transportation to reception in Vegas?
Our ceremony is at the hotel where we suggested everyone stay. The wedding dinner is a mile off the strip, a mile from the hotel. If it was on the strip, I wouldn't worry about transportation for guests. Is it rude not to provide transportation? It would end up costing us well over $600 just to get 35 people from point A to point B, for an hour and a half long dinner. That just seems ridiculous. It would be cheaper to pay everyone's taxi fare!
Any ideas? Or should I just leave it up to the guests? I don't want to be rude, but there really is no money in the budget for such a huge expense. The hotel wedding coordinator originally said it would be like $200....so not true. |

Ask a Question
Help! I need knockoff shoes!! Bad me!
I am in love...LOVE with these Christian Loubotin Bow-T Dorcet shoe! I want! I need! Pretty please?
I know knockoffs are bad, very bad, but c'mon now, my budget is like $50, not $800....so anyone have a good site? Or know where I can find shoes somewhat similar? Or even some fantastic and cheap white satin peep toe shoes I can do up? I promise, I'll love you forever and ever if you know! |

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
Need to order my wedding band!
Probably shouldn't have left this until the last second, huh? We found my ring a few months ago, and pretty much ceased thinking about it lol. We ordered FH's ring months ago since it was such a steal, but was waiting on mine (big price difference!) Now the wedding is 43 days away!! Ahhh!!

Wedding Cake
Okay, got it!
This is what I want to go with. I love this color, that's why it caught my eye. But I'm going to have it done in white, red, and black.
