The Ceremony

Five weeks to go and I HATE our ceremony...

A friend of my family is doing our officiating which is awesome! HOWEVER, she's stuck on doing the traditional Anglican service (I grew up in an Anglican church). Ugh!!!

We've tried dropping a few hints that we wanted something a little more personal but no dice. I don't want to be totally mean or scare her off or anything (especially since she is doing it for free) but it's OUR WEDDING!!

I need to grow some balls and lay down the law!! That's the plan for this weekend - wish me luck...

yikes.. the anglican services can be so stale.. everytime we watch my mom and step dads we have to fast forward through it because it just drags on too much. I would tell her how you feel. Just say that while you want to keep most of it traditional you want to make sure you really feel what she is saying and you want to make it feel fresher.   We wrote out a ceremony we loved then met with our pastor and he added the christian/ church elements he felt were neccessary.. then we changed the wording some together to make both him and my fiance and I happy.

I mean, if she is just a friend, and not clergy or a religious authority, then there should be no problem giving her the exact ceremony wording you want. This is indeed your wedding, have the ceremony the way you want it.

Stale - that's a good way to put it. She's a clergy friend...but she doesn't do weddings normally so she's not getting the idea of 'freshening' up a ceremony. She wants it SUPER traditional and SUPER sober! BORING!!!  Thanks ladies - I'll see what I can do.
