Ask a Question
How can I keep my guests occupied between the ceremony and reception??
We are having our wedding and ceremony at the same location (a rented beach/holiday house) and I'm trying to think of activities and ways to keep my guests occupied while we head off to get our photos done (about an hour or so).
I am having pre dinner drinks but i want to be there for that so I am trying to think of something to keep guests busy so they don't get bored. I was thinking of setting up some games on the lawn - maybe some boules or croquet or even pin the tie on the groom! Some other thoughts were to use this time for people to sign the guest book and get photos at my DIY photo 'booth.' Does anyone have any ideas of how to keep guests occupied/entertained? Preferably low expense! |

Wedding Decoration
We just changed our wedding colours!
Originally we were going with a white/cream, green and chocolate brown wedding but we've swapped the green for a grape purple!
I have been struggling with the green and i hadn't done much research or put much thought in to my colours when i made the decision. So I showed a bunch of swatches to my FH and he picked the same ones I loved the most! It will be mostly cream/white with a splash of grape and a touch of chocolate brown. The first picture are our new colours and the 2nd picture are our old colours. What do you think? |

Wedding Invitation
DIY invitations and guest list finalised!
This is my mock up of our wedding invitation - it's a wallet invitation and will have our names and wedding date printed on the right hand corner below where the ribbon sits. The ribbon slips off and it's opened to reveal the invitation.
What do you think? We only want a small wedding and I have a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins who all expect an invitation so it's been difficult finalising a guest list. I've managed to work it in a way that I invite aunts and uncles and only a couple of cousins who I actually see on a regular basis. At first I didn't think I could invite all aunts and uncles so asked my mum who she would choose and she advised me of a couple of people who probably wouldn't come - so my guest list is 2 people over our original plan - on the assumption that not everyone will rsvp yes. It is a bit of a risk but worse case scenario I can fit the extras in somewhere and best of all everyone is happy! Our limit was 33 (35 including us) but I'll be inviting 35 so if everyone comes it will be 37 and i'll have to squeeze some extra chairs in! Has anyone else invited more than what they can accommodate and hoped that not everyone rsvps yes? Now that is sorted I just have to worry about the ones who will be cranky when they realised kids aren't invited... |

Wedding Dress
Dress Schmess
I'm getting really frustrated in my search for "the dress"!! I have looked at thousands upon thousands of pictures and have created a collection of ones I love. I've been to a few bridal shops to try dresses on and have been disappointed by the lack of variety and the fact that they only seem to stock really small sizes so i can't even try them on to see what styles I like/suit me.
I asked one bridal shop assistant if I like a dress and want to try it on in my size what do I need to do and she basically said I have to have a good idea it will look good and buy it! I'm sorry but I am not spending thousands of dollars on a dress in the hope that it is going to look good! I'm considering buying my dress online but can't decide between a few and know that if i was able to try them on i'd be able to pick one! furthermore i'm nervous about buying a dress and then finding it doesn't suit me or look as good as i imagined it to. I'm venting a little here but it's quite frustrating, i never imagined finding my dream wedding dress would be a guessing game! On a brighter note I've attached some pics of the dresses I like :) I'm really loving the lace dresses and dress 1 and 3 are at the top of my list. The last dress doesn't have lace but i like the style. |

The Ceremony
Dog Ring Bearer
We have a dog and a cat who are very much apart of our little family...I call them the fids (fur kids) and we want them to be apart of our special day.
We are considering having our dog Ben bring our rings down the aisle (we'd have them tied around his neck with ribbon or similiar). I'm not sure how he will go though - he might want to lick everyone and say hello before he actually gets to us with the rings! Is anyone else planning on having their dog in their wedding or know of anyone who has? Any tips? We will definately have the fids in some photos with us. |

Ask a Question
Which Bonbonneire should we choose??!!
We have been discussing our bonbonneirre and can't agree or decide on what to have.
1# - My original idea was to get personalised matchboxes with our names and wedding date on them and attached them to a handful of sparklers with a ribbon tied around them. I figure everyone uses matches at some point and they can use them at the wedding to light the sparklers. Hubby to be doesn't agree that matches are used by everyone and would only be suitable for smokers! 2# - We bought this unbelievable tasty fudge the other day and his idea was to box up a piece of fudge for the guests. 3# - My parents own a coin collectors store and our other idea was to mock up a limited edition coin - ie. just a $1 coin or similiar of the year of our wedding and make a personalised jacket/case for it with our picture and wedding details. Argh I hate making deicisons - which one do you guys like or do you have any other suggestions? I want something unisex and that will be useful or at least memorable! |

Inspiration Board
Our Wedding Inspiration Board
We have hired a holiday beach house on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia and having the ceremony and reception at the house.
There is a bali style hut which is where the ceremony will be held and during the reception it will serve as a lounge/chill out area. It will be a small wedding of 35 family and friends with a BBQ style banquet on long tables. We have hired caterers to come on site and they also provide all the hire equipment and decorations. We are going for a simple, timeless, intimate wedding with white/cream as the main colours and greens and chocolate brown thrown in. There will be paper lanterns hanging above us and floating lanterns in the pool. The house has it's own private beach access so we will head to the beach after the ceremony for our photos. We are having some friends and family stay at the house with us so we will have a casual bbq the night before and my brothers girlfriend has kindly offered to organise a breakfast/brunch for the morning after! I still have lots of things to decide on and can't wait to use this as a way to toss around ideas and get some feedback! - The future Mrs Queen |
