Ask a Question
are you having a slide show of some sort?

I LOVE the idea of having a slideshow at the reception but it is causing a ton of problems. My fiance and his bro (best man) think that we are getting ripped off by the Dj for the rental of equipment and "montage fee" of 75 cents a photo.... we already booked the Dj and I've used him for parties before and I know he is good. Also, has anyone ever heard of a power point show to go along with a toast?? I don't want my wedding to turn into a conference hall!!!! aaaahhhh
I want a slideshow but I don't think that it needs to go on all night long with 1,000 different pics.... what do you guys think?

i absolutely love the slideshow idea....but here is a suggestion, if you can't have it at the reception, do it at the rehearsal dinner! that is what we did and it was a major hit. while everyone was eating, it gave all the family members time to reminesce! everyone loved it! i wanted to have it at the reception also, but we really didn't have enough room to set it up. but either way you do it, it will be great! good luck!

We're going to do one.  I think we'll not include it in our DJ package though.  We're going to make the movie ourselves (or with the help of a friend) and then rent a screen for hopefully cheaper.  I think they're so fun though!  Good luck with your decision!

Although I haven't talked to any DJs yet, that price sounds steep to me.  I want a slide show/movie also and have enlisted the help of my dad - a TV engineer - to make it for me and I'll just get him all the pics.  A friend of mine said she had one and included a lot of pics of guests that would be at the wedding so a lot of people felt involved in it as well and everyone really liked it.  As far as the equipment to do it, I'm going to look into the venue and see if they have it or if the DJ could just bring it and we'd pay to use it or if my dad could find something independantly.

my brother is the captian ofthe fire department and he makes slides shows all the time, using power point. He will be doing ours as well and he said a typical slide show should be 3- 5 minutes long about 50 pictures

I've seen slideshows done a few ways.  I've seen longer ones that just run in a loop continuously - people can watch them at their leisure.  I've also seen the typical 3-5 minute slideshow.  I find them very boring and dry if they don't have:

1. Music that fits the mood going along with it, and
2. Other people.  I personally don't want to see two dozen pictures of the bride as a baby, then the groom as a baby.  More recient pictures, especially in group shots at different events, or really good quality shots make a good slideshow.

Just my two cents.

I'm doing a slideshow at my reception... I asked my brother to be in charge of putting it all together, it was kinda my way of having him involved in the wedding cuz my sister is my maid of honor! He is using powerpoint and I don't think the dj will be involved!! Our venue has all the equipment BUT I'm pretty sure you can rent epuipment from like your local party supply store.. around here it costs about $75!

my MIL to be is a retired computer teacher. She taught high school and college computer courses and she is certified in one of those fancy slideshow software programs and she is making a slide show for us. But we don't want it to take up too much time at the reception (we are really pressed to squeeze everything in) so she is bringing her laptop and we are setting it up so people can take turns sitting at the computer to watch it.

The price sounds expensive.  I would totally do it yourself.  If there is any entry area where guests will sign your guest book, you could have it there or at your rehearsal dinner. You can do it yourself on a laptop to a screen yourself.  I did that at my father's 60th birthday party.
