I would suggest figuring out what you want your colors to be, then visiting potential venues and start booking everything in advance. I booked my venue and photographer a year in advance. Once you get those booked, start ordering free samples of invitations, etc. Happy Planning!
I would start looking at venues if you are planning your big day to be within the next year. Great places book fast, so sit down with your fiance figure out whether it's going to be a small or large wedding and start looking at places to suit your styles and visions. Then a close second is colors. I say venue before colors only because I know some girls choose their colors first, and then find it difficult to fall in love with a venue because it doesn't have the seem feel and colors they wanted the wedding to be. This way you can take into consideration the decor, chair colors, and floor if you're really into details and really matching well.
Find a place you know you'll love and work your colors into it.
