Meet My New Bridesmaid and Usher
I called my cousin and he said that he would be an usher for me, and he said that if he needed to stand in as a groomsman, groomsman sounds a lot better to him than usher! LOL But he was honored to be asked. Then I had the thought, "He is a married man! Why not welcome her to the family by asking her to join in the family activity?" She said yes and was happy about it. She is very family oriented.
A little background: Shaunte Nance-Johnson is the wife of my cousin Anthony Johnson. They are the first married couple to play basketball for the University of Montana in the history of the school. They are both Juniors and play the position of point guard. They have been married for almost 2 years. I am so very proud of both of them. I even watch their games on the Big Sky Conference website when they play. So with them being in school and trying to better themselves, I am totally willing to pay for their tux and dress. They are doing what they need to in order to have a better life, so if they are willing to stand up for me at my wedding, I am not going to make it any harder on them, that's for sure! My cousin Anthony was recognized as co-Big Sky Conference Player of the week this week! Pray for them. They are a young couple spending a lot of time apart right now because of the traveling of their teams. Here are pics of each. |

She said NO!!
Okay, if you didn't read my last post, you might be alittle lost. Quick recap, my sister may not be allowed to attend the wedding which means that she may not be able to be a bridesmaid, so I asked FH's SIL to be a bridesmai for me.
I asked my FH SIL to be my bridesmaid. She told me that she is too old and I should have young pretty gir;s around me for my wedding. She said NO!!! I had a bridezilla moment. I raised my voice and told her that you are not allowed to say no to the question of "Will you be my bridesmaid?" !! She said that she was very honored, but she would rather be asked to read something. I am not happy. In fact, all I want is a couple of pints of icecream and my bed! What am I going to do now?!?!? I could ask my friend to be in it, but she is having real troubles, and I would have to help pay for her transportation down here and her dress. I am afraid that she will not be able to come down on the Friday before the wedding like I am asking all the bridal party to so that eceryone can get to know each other and be comfortable with each other for the wedding. I am super sad right now. I need haagen daz or ben & jerry's! Calgon, take me away! |

He Is Going To Ruin My Wedding!!
Okay. I need to give you a little background on this situation.
I asked my 3 little sisters to be bridesmaids for me and my little brother to be an usher. Well, one sister is 23 and she will be there. Another sister just turned 18 on Friday and she moved out of her father's house and said that she will be there too. Now I have to deal with the fact that my youngest sister is only 16 and my brother is 14, and their father is a first class DICKHEAD!!! He is the kind of guy who (using a real life example) told my mom that the kids could not come to her house for Christmas because she (my mom) wouldn't come and pick them up (aka, put out). Then he changed his mind at the last minute (just before my mom called her job to sign up for overtime to keep her mind off the fact that she couldn't see her kids) to say that he would bring them over after they had opened their gifts at his sister's house. He brought them over after 7 at night. So it has been established that he sucks the big one. So with my youngest sister and brither being underage and under his rules, he has the power to say that they can't come to the wedding! We all know that he will say that they will be here, but then he can decide not to buy tickets or that they didn't clean their room the right way or he doesn't like me today (my first sister and me are not his kids). (But he MADE the kids miss more than a week of school to go visit his father down here last school year.)This really bothers me. So I called my mom yesterday and asked her what she thought that we should do, and to get her thoughts on the situation. My mom told me that since we know how he is, I should find someone else to take her place and another usher in case they cannot come. But she will buy Britney's dress and CW's tux in case they can come at the last minute. So FH said that we can get an extra usher and if Brit does show, we can make an usher a groomsmen at the last minute and she can still be in the wedding. But the only other person I would ask that I know is not in the best financial position and could not afford to come down the day before the wedding, let alone the weekend before. Then I can ask FH's SIL, who said that she would do anything for the wedding, all I have to do is tell her what I need. She already bought her tickets and even got her hotel room. I think that I am going to ask her to be a bridesmaid for me. I am going to see if my cousin who is in college is going to be already in summer school or if he can make it to the wedding, I am going to ask him to be the usher. Pray that it works out for me. I am hoping that my sister can be in the wedding and I will just have an extra bridesmaid and groomsman, which I can live with. I do not want to be heartbroken that they could not make the wedding on the wedding day. I have been so calm up until now, and I can't believe that this is a possibility! |

Our Crafts So Far
Pic 1 - original pots
Pic 2 - FH gluing floral block in pots Pic 3 - Floral block in place Pic 4- The 4 different m&ms in our own collection Pic 5 - Mini candy jars that we are filling with m&ms Pic 6 - Our pics on m&ms Pic 7 & on - Blank box with pics of them after names have been burned in. We have started on new projects and I am trying to finish some. The boxes are coming right along. I am super excited to see how these boxes turn out. Next step is to stain, then lacquer, then add cork to the bottom. Halfway there! FH cut my floral blocks for me and hot glued them together so that they fit in the flowerpots. After I paint them, we are going to make lollipops grow from the flowerpot by sticking them into the floral block. We emptied all the m&ms that we had into the tiny candy jars that we bought. We still have about 70 lef tto dom so I ordered more personalized m&ms. Any that aren't used in the jars for the guest favors, will go on the candy bar/ I am guessing that we will have some left over because we are ordering 5 pounds. hmmm. |

Wedding Dress
It Is On The Way!!
So today I called the store about my dress (that i ordered in October!!!) and to let them know that if my daughter's dress comes in this weekend we will be in town, but if it doesn't, then I will have to wait to pick it up when my dress comes in. (Her dress was scheduled to arrive middle of this month, and mine at the end.) So I call the lady and she looks up the order, and says that they are actually on their way to the store RIGHT NOW!!!! So that means that they could be here this weekend or sometime next week. I am praying that they come in next week so that Daizia and i can go up to try them on and take pics without FH with us. That way, we can prance around the store in the dresses for a little while before we have to store them in the storage unit we are getting this weekend.
Yes, ladies, a storage unit. The thing is that we live 4 hours from where we aregetting married, and we have all kinds of wedding stuff taking over the office. And to compound the whole thing, FH doesn't even want to see the dress, so that he will be completely surprised when I walk down the aisle. He has no idea about the style or cut, or anything. He only knows that i want a ivory and purple dress. So my dress has to live in a temperature controlled unit until before the wedding. But, it does cut down on what has to be transported when we drive up. But...... MY DRESS IS ON ITS WAY!!!!!! |

DIY Wedding
Starting Over on the Jewelry boxes
So I decided that the jewelry boxes that I started on were much too small. It was uncomfortable for my hands to sand in them. So I have bigger ones now. Step one is done, and in only a couple of hours - much quicker than the little ones were. So here are pics of them sanded down. (Had to label them to remember whose was whose.)
Tomorrow I begin to stamp everyone's names on them. I went and bought letter stamps for my burner (the price burned my butt), so that everything will be easier. It will be so much easier to just stamp the letters into the wood than is was to try to write with a hot piece of metal in the side of a one inch box! So that is on my agenda for tomorrow. Thursday night or Friday I will start the staining process, but I am taking the weekend off of DIY for the bridal show, so it will likely be wednesday before we get the cork on the bottom and see the finished result. If it doesn't work this time, they will get their jewelry in those sheer bags and I am going to cry "uncle!" All of the Austin brides and whoever else can make it, I hope to see you at the show! |

Wedding Decoration
Send Off Settled
We have ordered our ecofetti! It is this great stuff that looks like confetti, but after it hits the ground, it dissolves with water. My venue doesn't allow confetti, but I got special permission for us to use this as long as we have someone throw water on it. We went with the pastel mauve (light purple) and white. We are looking for cheaper glassine envelopes, and I found a few prospects. It's coming together like butt cheeks!
If you are interested in the ecofetti, go to www.ecoparti.com. They also sell freeze dried flowers. Also, if you go to bridalpartytees.com, you can get a free tshirt by clicking on the "bridal show shirt - free w/code at checkout" icon and at the cart, enter promo code YTUR. This is the code that will make the shirt free and you only pay shipping and handling. It may be plain, but it is a way to show off your excitement for your upcoming day. and it is cute! |
