Ask a Question
Which invitation?
I went and met with a lady on Saturday who has a great personality and was loads of fun. FH and I were thinking that we liked the design on the outside instead of on the inside. Give me some feedback. But I do love the layers of purple, silver and ivory, so that will not change.
Feedback ladies! Should I change anything? The purple, silver and ivory will be carried throughout the entire wedding. |

Stress Break
Bride Wars Opens January 9th
Okay, so I have it all planned out. I have a wedding show on the 4th, and another one that lasts the 10th and 11th. Kick off a weekend that I am hoping will end with me winning $50k, I am going to take a "stress break" at the movies. Bride Wars looks super funny and like a good way to blow off some steam. Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway look like a nutty best friend combo ready to batlle it out over a wedding date and venue. Check out the previews at bridewars.com. Happy planning!

Women and Children
The Flowergirl, Queen of the Bling, and Bridesmaids
These are the women and children who are going to make my day that much more special.
I am having my niece is 2 and I have asked her mother to let her participate as my flowergirl. My daughter, who was the flowergirl in the wedding where we met, and I was the bridesmaid and he was the best man, is going to be our ing bearer. She resisted at first, but I renamed her "Queen of the Bling" and now she is digging it. My MOH is my friend who helped me to be strong after I left the ass that disguised himself as my first husband. My bridesmaids are my 3 sisters, my aunt, and my best friend/co-worker from when I was in Arkansas and she has been for the last 2 years. So here are my girls that who will walk down the aisle before me. |

Birthday Follow-up
So his birthday went so well that I am not sure that I can outdo it next year. at the end of the night he fell asleep with a huge smile on his face. He opened the Titans watch the night before because my daughter wanted him to have it to wear it to work the next day. He got the roses while he was at work. My daughter and I went and picked him up a dozen chocolate covered cherries and 2 dozen chocolate covered strawberries for him, and then we came home and I taught my daughter how to make a dump cake, and she made one for him. We went to dinner at Outback because that is where he wanted to eat. Then we came home and my daughter wanted him to open another gift, which she pulled from under the Christmas tree. He loved the game of Scrabble. Then we let her open one and she got caught up in playing with it. I had to joinin and I got a bluetooth for my cell. We put her to bed and played a drinking game while indulging in wine and chocolate strawberries. We hung out until just before midnight and then ended the birthday the same way I made sure that it started! All things considered, it was a huge success. I can't wait to try to top this next year.

FH Birthday
Tomorrow is my man's birthday!
This is what I have planned for him: 1. I will record my daughter's performance that he will miss because he has to work. He never misses a performance, it's the first time. :-( 2. While he is at work, 3 dozen roses will be delivered to him. (I sogned up for 1800floewrs.com, and they have a buy 18 roses get 18 free deal along with free handling right now. Jump on it ladies!) 3. We will take him to dinner at either Outback or Logan's 4. I am planning on making him a dump cake 5. He will get his Tennessee Titans watch from my daughter and me. 6. Chocolate covered strawberries and wine 7. That's not your business! Let's just say that I have a special outfit just for him. ;-) Wish me luck, ladies. Feel free to drop me a couple of ideas. I could use them to not be so predictable. -----UPDATE------ So he got the flowers while he was at work. When I showed up, everyone just kept commenting on the flowers. Even though they gave him a cake at work, I am still going to let my daughter help make a cake for him. Ours will be filled with love! He loved the watch. I am planning on him being home and getting ready for dinner in about 3 hours, so I will make a post tomorrow on how the rest of the plans go. Have a great day! |

Survey
Something Postive
I appreciate everyone's opinion in my last post, even if I disagree whole heartedly. Thank you for taking time to weigh in on my situation and offer solutions that might be helpful to me. Now I am going to follow the trend and complete the survey.
How long did you date before you got engaged? About 2 and 1/2 months. Did you get the ring you wanted? Yes, because it was the one that he wanted me to have. No because I felt that it was too big. Was the proposal a complete surprise? I knew that we were going to get married eventually, but I had no idea that he was going to ask me when he did. The whole time that he was trying to express his emotions, I had dozed off and kept telling him that we could talk about it in the morning. I felt really bad when he pulled out the ring. Do you wish you had a bigger/smaller diamond? If so How big or small? I used to wish that it was smaller, like a half carat or so. But I have since gotten used to it, and I really love when guys that are hitting on me ask how big it is and then say "He must really love you." Did you cry when he proposed? No, I was trying to grasp what the hell he had been talking about when I drifted off. LOL I did tear up when he slipped the ring on my finger. Was the proposal romantic or creative? Explain how if you'd like. It was romantic and creative. He talked to me until I drifted off, then woke me up and said he was going to get some ice water. He was gone a long time, and he came back proclaiming his love and I just kept saying "I know honey. We can talk about this in the morning. COme lay down with me." What I remember like it happened two minuted ago, was him telling me, "NO! I really love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you! LOOK!" Where do you want to go for your honeymoon? He is planning it. All I know is the Carribbean. Possibly Jamaica. Are you buying his wedding band for him? We picked out our wedding bands together about two days after he proposed. I do want to sneak it out and get it engraved for part of his wedding present. Have you gone over your original wedding budget? We have! But by less than $1000, and that is overestimating how much jewelry and alterations, and hair and makeup, and the rehearsal dinner. What day of the year will your wedding be? Monday, June 1, 2009 What kind of weather? Warm with a beautiful sunset! Inside or outside? Outdoor ceremony, reception inside with a patio for anyone that would like to take advantage of it. Church/justice of the peace/other? Officiant who is a minister How many people will be there? Planning on 75-100, inviting 125. Time of day? Ceremony at 7:30 p.m. (sunsets that day at 8:30, so we will get some awesome pictures of us and the wedding party with a gorgeous sunsetting over the lake in the background), cocktails at 8, dinner at 9, dancing etc. until midnight Any kind of theme? No How many bridesmaids? Who would they be? 6 bridesmaids, including Matron of Honor. My 3 sisters, my aunt, my best friend from Arkansas, and the close friend who helped me to get over me sucky relationship, who also introduced me to my FH What kind of cake/what will it look like? I know that the cake will be the victorian lilac of my dress accent, with the design from the dress piped on the cake. It will be nice and smooth with fondant. All I am sure about it that my cake will have 3 different flavors. My FH is not sure about the design or the flavor of his cake.. Where will you have the reception? Vintage Villas What kind of dress will you have/color/material? Very modern dress. victorian lilac accented bodice and back. Alfred Angelo makes me smile! What kind of flowers in your bouquet? Purple and white mini calla lilies Kind of engagement ring? White gold solitaire ring, a "Celebration Diamond" from Gordon's, 1.22 carats Kind of wedding bands? Mine has 11 little diamonds, white gold. His is a white gold band with a single diamond. Both are "Celebration Diamonds" from Gordon's just like my engagement ring. Half a carat and a quarter carat, respectively. How will you wear your hair? Not sure yet. I do know that I will be going to see a professional who can add a little something to my do. Who will be important to be there? My mother and aunt, his brothers, my siblings... Everyone. Will the reception be big or small? Medium What will the groom wear? White tuxedo with tails. Purple vest and tie. How long on Honeymoon? I am pulling for 10 days, but we are likely going to go for 7 days What will you do? Enjoy each other's company. Bask in the sunshine. Swim, dance, eat, amd make lots of passionate LOVE!!! Will it be modest or costly? Costly for the wedding, modest for the honeymoon How old will you and the groom be? I will be 28, he will be 45. How long will you be engaged before you get married? 8 months Live together before or wait till married? LIve together Take a long time to plan the wedding or will it be simple? I had most of the major stuff done in the first 6 weeks. We are shopping for invitations, programs, and menus this weekend. I plan on getting it all done by February and being able to kick back and relax until May. Will you do it yourself or with family or hire someone to plan the wedding? I have planned the wedding. I did hire a coordinator for direction since i know nothing about the city of Austin where we are going to say I do. She has been wonderful and I couldn't ask for a better friend-for-hire. LOL She really has become a friend, though. One who is there when you need to bitch and shop and cry. She is awesom! Will you write your own vows or use something pre-made? I have them taken care of. I pieced them together from 3 different ceremonies, and I my family medallion and unity sand ceremonies. |

Ask a Question
Being selfish?
I am really concerned that I will be viewed as selfish for this, but I need help with this.
My Best Man and Matron of Honor are married. The Best Man requested that they get a dance at our wedding and dance to their song. They had their best man and moh do this at their wedding, and that is fine. But I am looking at it like this: Their best man (my FH) and the moh and myself had to do so much to get their wedding together, they should have given us a flippin float. They do not have to do anything for us besides show up,walk, eat, and throw water on the walkway to get rid of the ecofetti. Not put invites, favors, cook the dinner for all our guests, clean up the venue, and all that jazz (like they had us do), so it bothers me a little. It would have been so much better if it had been a suggestion by me or my FH, but come on! Really?!? My day, you dance to YOUR song? THen to top the cake, but not with a bling-y cake topper that I like, my moh asks me if she really has to wear what my other bridesmaids are wearing. DAMN!!! I didn't complain about her dressing me up so that my first thought when I looked in the mirror was, "Oh my GOD! I look like a penis with a broken condom on it." (Soory for the brutal honesty ladies.) And she is going to complain about me asking her to wear a presentable dress that everyone else is excited about wearing? Even she likes the dresses that I picked out, but she wants to be made to feel uber-important. Help me ladies. Am I being a total bitch? What would ou do with these 2 situations? Honestly, am I being a spoiled brat having a tantrum, or am I keeping it real? |

Venue
Vintage Villas
So here are my pictures from my trip up to my venue. I have pics from outside, inside, my bridal dressing area, etc. And yes, I did go in the men's room to see everything. Hey, I am planning on putting monogrammed towels in both restrooms, so I needed to know, right? LOL ANd don't worry. We are having a plated dinner, so those tables will not be there in the hallway. We might put some hightop bar tables in there though.
Just stop looking when you get bored. THis is located in Austin, Texas. |

Rooms at Venue
I Love This Place!
So I mentioned earlier that I got a free stay at the place we are having the wedding. Here are the promised pics of the room. As promised, they put me in the best room that they had. I loved their bathroom. I have to look at the powder room before I say if I like a place or not. And ladies, I was not disappointed! It featured double vanities, a separate room for the tinkler (stinky area), a separate shower with the venue logo on it, a nice robe perfect for the Texas climate, and a jacuzzi tub that I had to hold myself up with my toes to keep from going under the water! Oh yeah, I am happy with my choice! I enjoyed myself, but missed my Fh and my daughter for the night (she had school the next day, so he stayed home with her). Sorry there are so many. Pictures of the venue itself are loading to the computer. Will add them soon.
