First Dance
Just Dance: Anyone doing anything special for their first dance?

Ever since this process began, I was transfixed on the idea of having a specialty dance. Something that would be fun for us to do, and entertaining for our guest to see. I'd seen time and time again on TV and on youtube the "fake me out" first dances and had to have this as part of our day. So secretly my FH and I have been practicing our dance...and I must say...it's freakin awesome. lol. We are going to start off by playing So High/Cloud Nine ( John Legend) and lead into: Bust a move, Its Not Unusual (oh yes, we are doing the carlton dance), and end with Night Time is the Right TIme ( Best known from the episode of The Cosby Show where Cliff and the kids perform for their grandparents on their anniversary...think little Rudy lip synching "BAAAABY....BAAABY").

We also have a pretty cool intro set up for the bridal party! Im so excited. How many of you all are planning to do something for your first dance/bridal party entrance?

Oh...if any of you are interested in making your own mixes for things just like this, go to: www.jamglue.com. It really is the best...you can mix and cut your own mixes and it is sooo easy to do...plus you'll feel so proud of yourself once you've completed your mix. I've made my bridal party entrance mix, wedding processional/recessional mix, and first dance mix all from this site. The easiest and best DIY project I've done so far.

You HAVE to get this on video and share with us.  :)  What a great list of songs.  :)

We're doing everything backwards in our wedding (reception before ceremony, then dance) so if we do this, we'd do this backwards too, starting with "Praise You" by Fatboy Slim, and then on to our traditional dance song.  The jury is still out on whether or not we'll do this...

in the fall we're going to take swing dancing lessons for our first dance...though i don't know if it was be as awesome as yours ;)

We didn't do anything for our wedding.

For our vow renewal, though, I really want to do something for our "anniversary dance", try to follow:

I don't want it to change songs. Same song the whole way through, but I still want a fake out in the sense that to begin with, it's going to seem like we're not going to do anything really fancy... then everyone's going to find out quick that I'm in pointe shoes. I was a classical ballerina, and I really want to do a choreogaphed pas de deux (with less stress on the Mr's part, obviously), mostly because our song is really perfect for it.

I'm still trying to decide if this constitutes changing dresses, however. Mermaid cut gown + ballet moves = usually not a good combination.

I'm trying to convince FH to learn how to dance, since you can't really just sway back and forth to our song. That's awesome that you're going to have one of those fun entertaining dances! I'm sure your guests will love it!!!

I really want to do this but the FH doesn't seem very interested. He's never been one to dance but I know he can do it and look great doing it. I know he'll do anything if I nicely ask him but I'm still not sure if we're going to do it. Thanks for sharing the jamglue.com!!!

Hm, I think it would be fun if FH was into it, but he's not really into dancing. Even doing a simple waltz gets him all dizzy, so I don't want to make him sick on our wedding. It would be pretty fun, though, to do a choreographed dance.

FH and I are doing a remix dance as well we are going to start off slow and then bring 'em out is going to play and our kids are going to come out and join us for a few mixes, we are going to act like we are have a dance contest against them.  Then the DJ is going to play a dj mix were you do this slide dance and the kids are going to slide off the dance floor and we will end the dance together.

Almost a year later...we did our dance and we had a great time!!! The guest loved it!  Most of the guest thought that the Dj really messed up when our first dance song remixed into our other songs.  The Guests all said they could really see our fun spirits in the dance that we did.  It definitely brings a fun flavor to the wedding and gets people dancing!
