Bridesmaids - Black dresses in the summer? - MRSWILKINS2010's Red Wedding by Color Blog

Hey Ladies! I went to David's Bridals last night with another Bride-to- be. She has 30 days exactly and she went for her final fitting and changed her dress so no one else knows that'll she'll be in a totally different dress than what she initially chose. So I stumbled upon the idea of my girls wearing black dresses with contrasting red sashes. I think it 's a more classic look. I was really doubting the idea because it's a summer wedding but it's my wedding and that's what I want. What do you guys think? I tried on both dresses and I loved them! I made an appointment on Saturday for everyone to order their dresses.Two weeks ago we all had breakfast at IHOP and then headed over to David's to check out dresses. We'd never been to David's together. So that will be our meeting for the month. Shoes will be discussed again and hair issue is resolved. Then we'll head over to Wet Wilie's at the Hard Rock Cafe for drinks and dinner. Like they say the third times a charm...... not getting married but resetting my wedding date ( LOL) and this time everything is going quite well and I know that June 17th will be here before I know and I can't wait. DOUBLE DIGITS!!!

I don't see the probably. I was going to have my girls in black dresses, but the style I was in love with had been discontinued. My MOH's are still in black though and my bridesmaid's are in Oasis.

I'm getting married in July and the BMs are wearing long black dresses. Not their 1st choice since it is summer, but like you said, its our wedding and thats what my vision was... I think it will look very classic!

I really wanted black bridesmaids dresses originally, I love the look. I say go for it!

Mines next month and we are doing Black in spring. Black is in and very pretty with splashes of color. I have been to several weddings with black dresses in Spring and Summer. It's a hot trend. Don't let old rules from 30 years ago dictate your choice. GO FOR IT!

BTW...I love the first one that is straight.

It's your wedding....so if you want the girls in black, then black it is. Just get a dress that will compliment all the girls body types :-)

a friend of mine had black and lime green as her colors and her girls all wore long black dresses in August :) they were fine!

I'm all for black dresses! I got a lot of crap from older family, and finally told them...o well! My wedding is in November, so everyone was pressuring me to go with fall colors...NOPE. I definitely agree with ceccard1, don't listent to old rules. Black is a classic for a reason...it looks polished and goes with everything!

It all depends on the material of the dress. As long as they are not standing under a hot sun or in the humidity, then they should be fine. Have you considered looking into a lighter fabric for the dresses?

My girls bought the exact same black dress and I'm doing the "pool' colored sash instead of the white. I LOVE how elegant this dress is. It really helps set the formal mood at the wedding. I also have a summer wedding (aug 27) and all three of my bridesmaids LOVED their dresses.
