Am I Crazy?
TNT
So... apparently I didn't think that working full time, going to school (I will graduate in May!) and planning a wedding was enough on my plate... I have signed up to run a Half Marathon on June 5th! I am going to be running with the Team In Training organization to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Check out my TNT page here:

Wish me luck!

Ask a Question
DJ in New Orleans
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good (and NOT cheesy) DJ in New Orleans?

Thanks!

Just Updates
It's Been A While
So let's see:

Since our engagement session in November, we have:

DRESS
Secured an awesome and totally reasonable dressmaker for my RED wedding dress! Leslie, of Lakeview New Orleans, is the dressmaker and she is super professional and I saw a few dresses she was working on and they looked great. I'm so excited to have that not hanging over my head anymore and to feel good about the dress. The only thing that makes me nervous is that she said she won't make it until the month before the wedding. She said that is how she books all of her work and she schedules everything out so she can do everything on time so I understand but it does make me a little nervous when I think about it. Still - she seems really put together and comes with great reviews so I am going to trust her.

SHOES
I bought shoes from the wedding that I LOVE. They are "Romantic Soles" brand white sparkly heels. They have red hearts on the bottoms! The fit and are comfortable enough for an hour or so of wearing them, which is what I expect I will need. After the ceremony and pictures, I'll be throwing on some flip flops I'm sure. (Here are the fabulous shoes: http://www.zappos.com/romantic-soles-dasha-white)

SAVE THE DATES
We have ordered our Save the Dates from Wedding Paper Divas. They are postcards (Here is the design: http://www.weddingpaperdivas.com/product/7186/save_the_date_postcards_daring.html#color/01). We used three photos from our engagement session for the Save the Dates. Can't wait until they get in!

TASTING
We have a tasting set up with our caterer at City Park this coming Wednesday, 1/19/11. It's a "Reception Preview Party" and have an invitation for four so Tim, my mom and her partner will be going. I can't wait to taste the food. It better be good!

And I guess that's about it. Will update again after the tasting at City Park.

Engagement Photo Session
Over Thanksgiving, a friend of ours Diane, did a fun and FREE engagement photo shoot for us in City Park. We got a lot of really great pictures out of it. We will have to narrow them down four our Save The Dates, which I plan on sending out after the holidays. Plus we can give framed photos as gifts for parents for Christmas.

Thanks Diane for the great pictures!

An Appointment with a Dressmaker
So I have an appointment with a dressmaker tomorrow! I actually posted on Facebook the other day that I was looking for a dressmaker in the area, and while no one responded to that post, Tim was actually handed the business card of a seamstress that day. Someone had left it in one of the recording booths at his work and another person brought it out to him and told them they found it in there. So - I called her yesterday and she seems really cool. She sounds like a "real firecracker" if you will. When I told her I want a red wedding dress, she said "fabulous! I LOVE it!" so that was good to hear. At the end of the conversation she told me she was really excited because I sounded like her kind of people. Oh and it turns out she lives in my neighborhood about six blocks away. Crazy.

I'm going to meet with her Sunday and I think we are going to go to a fabric store together. Should be fun and interesting. Here's hoping it works out well!

One Year From Today!
We are getting married exactly one year from today! Today is the Pre-Anniversary or Negative One Year Anniversary.

I know a year is still a long time away but it seems like we went very quickly from 15 months until the wedding to now so I am sure this year will fly by.

Tim, being the wonderful person he is, totally bought into my excitement over celebrating Pre-Anniversary and got me a beautiful garnet necklace and took me out to Cafe Degas for a fancy (and yummy) French dinner. Then we drove over to City Park to check out the venue in the dark and walked around the park imagining what it will be like a year from today on our wedding night.

Oh and if we have weather like we had today it will be absolutely PERFECT: 77 degrees, no humidity, not a cloud in the sky... it was gorgeous out today. Fingers crossed that we get the same next year!

Happy Pre-Anniversary Tim! Yay to making the one year to go mark!

Bridesmaids
That's where it comes from...
I just read that the "traditional" method for choosing the number of bridesmaids is one bridesmaid for every 35-50 guests. So THIS is where the feelings of "too many bridesmaids" comes from! I guess by that calculation, I would have 210-300 guests since I have 6 ladies in my wedding party.

Of course we will more realistically have 65-75 people at the wedding so that is pretty off base. And I guess I could've had only one or two ladies in the wedding, but first off, I love all of my bridesmaids and couldn't imagine not having any of them stand with me and secondly, I don't actually care about "tradition." :-)

Some Old... and Borrowed
So I was talking to my mom and sister (MOH) about wedding jewelry and my mom asked if I wanted to wear her diamond stud earrings... to which I believe I crinkled my nose and said "um... no." So she asked what I was thinking and I said something more along the dangle-y earring line and probably with rhinestones. And then my mom asked if I wanted to wear the dangle-y, rhinestone earrings she wore at HER wedding. Um... yes Mom. I mean... once I see them and make sure of course. ;-)

She just sent me the picture and while normally heart shaped jewelry would not really be me, I have a warm, tingly feeling thinking about wearing them. They are really cute and sweet and I love the idea of wearing the same earrings my mom wore on her wedding day.

Loving it.

Wedding Photography
Booked Maile Lani!
First off, my profile now says we are 13 months to the wedding so woo hoo to getting closer to the date! I think... so much to do at this point and of course plenty of time to do it but it seems like a LOT to figure out and do.

But I do have another item to check off the list today: Photographer is booked! And she is AWESOME. We have secured Maile Lani here in New Orleans. She takes a photo-journalistic approach and she plays around with digital and film, including regular film, toy cameras, Polaroids, etc. Her photos are beautiful and exactly what I was looking for in a photographer. We met her Monday night and she is fun and young and seems like she is going to be great to work with.

Here is her website: http://www.mailelaniphotography.com/

Love it!

Wedding Hair Style
Shopping a Hairstyle
I was in need of a haircut, actually in need of a haircut fix from the last one I got, so I decided to try out a place in the neighborhood halfway between my house and the park where we will get married. It might be a great place to do wedding party hair the day of the big event.

The place is called Style 2 (Squared) and I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, the woman who cut my hair, did EXACTLY what I asked and I love the cut. Secondly, the place was very cool: bright colors, big space, casual and fun people, oh and all the ladies were wearing Saints gear for the game that night! My kind of people.

They also have a make-up artist that they work with there and they said they love doing wedding parties. I will still need to price them and think of the day of logistics, but I may have found a place for hair and make-up.
