A few weeks after my engagement my mom and I decided the first thing we needed to do was...No not choose a date, theme, venue, budget...but a DRESS!!! I know, our priorities are all screwed up, but hey I found the ONE. I knew I didn't want to do the typical David's Bridal experience so many I know have done, so I started my bridal salon google search. I came across a small family owned salon that caught my attention. What I liked most is the website was very informative and gave their price range so I knew I wouldn't go in and get my hopes up if I fell in love with a dress. It was pretty late so I decided to call and leave a message hoping to get an appointment within the next couple of weeks. They called me back the next morning at 9am and told me they had a cancellation and could fit me in at 11am...YAY!!! Immediately after hanging up the phone I got dressed & called my mom.
When we arrived at the salon we were seated and given a binder with all of the dresses they have in stock (they have a no touching the dress rule...which keeps their dresses looking fabulous) and given stick-it tabs to select dresses I was interested in. All the dresses listed in the binder had the available sizes and price of the dress. I saw maybe 3-4 that I chose to try on, given the limited sizes available for "real" women with curves, lol. The attendant pulled 3 dresses for me and took me into a dressing room. Okay I must admit that I have tried on a wedding dress twice when I was single just for the fun of it! I know, I know...pathetic huh? Anyway, the first dress I tried on I fell in love with it. Normally seeing it on a size 6 and below model didn't immediately make me love it, or the fact that I was totally against sweetheart necklines (small boob insecurity syndrome). But for some reason it really flattered my figure, was very light weight, and I almost shed a tear! I knew immediately it was the one. I could have been done at that point, but my mother insisted I try on the others. The other dresses didn't quite have the right fit or gave me the feeling I was looking for. The whole experience was overwhelming, the dresses were heavy & bulky and I started to feel warm & light headed. At that point I was done and I knew the first dress was the one for me!
Sweetheart does suit you so so much and the dress gives you an amazing waistline :)
