I knew the style of wedding/reception I wanted, but I think listening to everyone else's opinion is what caused a lot of confusion & headache for me. Not only were the venue costs & food & beverage minimums a nightmare, but it was family & friends constantly in my ear saying things like "why do you want to have your wedding there?", "Why don't you do it at this/that place", Why would you start at that time", why do you have to have that"...why why why why. I'm only one person and I can't please everyone, and besides this is about me & my fiance, not anyone else. So to all of you family & friends that keep asking why why why....BECAUSE it's our wedding and we are having it the way we want and within out budget! With that being said I went back to my original venue I wanted, had a chance to see an actual ceremony/reception take place there over the weekend and fell in love with it all over again. So no more venue shopping, I'm going with my first instinct and reserving my date as well as putting down a deposit TODAY as soon as they call me back!!!
I also met with one of the venue's preferred caterers over the weekend and that went pretty good!!! I wasn't expecting a full tasting but they prepared appetizers and full entrees. The food was good and she prepared a full proposal that included everything (food, staff time, linens, china, taxes/fees), no hidden costs at all. She even deducted nearly $1,000 from the total costs to save me money. The price was definately right for the amount of food and service provided, but I would have to find a seperate bar service provider. What to do?
