Countdown
9 months from yesterday and feeling stressed
![]() Yesterday is the official benchmark... 9 more months until I become Mrs. Pollard! I am so excited that it's getting closer but I actually also started getting my first signs of stress... 9 months is still a lot of time however I broke down yesterday. 2 months ago I got an invitation in the mail for a bridal show that is happening November 12th (which is now today). In this invitation it said it was a 10 hour event.. check in is at 8:30am and it will go until 7pm... there will be lunch, a fashion show, vendors, prizes, bachelorette bowling part with pizza and drinks, etc. etc... and says the the bride needs to be signed up for the entire day of events to be eligible for drawings and the $1000 cash prize. I have gone to 3 wedding shows within the past year and it has only been with my mother... I thought that this sounded like it could be fun... all though it makes for a very long day at least they had tons going on that I wouldn't be bored... sorta like a convention... the idea of bonding and bowling with my bridesmaids sounded fun too. So upon receiving that invitation in August I began trying to coordinate with my 5 bridesmaids to see if they could come with me to this event. Right away I had 2 of them say yes as they are typically not busy and know their work schedule would not conflict... my maid of honor who lives in Milwaukee only visits on some weekend and she told me she didn't know if she would have to work that weekend.. the other 2 did not respond right away... Anyway some time passed my 2 yeses stayed solid and my maid of honor then told me no that she has to work that weekend... I got a 3rd yes... and the last one said she has to work but she may be able to make some of it. Then more time passed and my 1 yes that I had just gained said she cannot because her dad may be going in for surgery that weekend but my maid of honor who said she would have to work said she doesn't have to work and she can go... however one of my original yeses told me that another friend of her's that is also getting married is having her bachelorette party on that day as well and that she may only be able to come for part of it... and then yesterday I got contacted by 3 of my bridesmaids... the one who said she may be able to go for some of it retracted from her earlier statement telling me now that she won't able to go at all because she is bowling until midnight, needs sleep, and then leaves for the bacherlorette party @ 1... Frustrated and tired of having my bridesmaids trying to bail on me as I had only gotten 1 solid yes that didn't fluctuate... I was also concerned at the lack of advertising for the bridal show... I had only gotten the invite and a few weeks ago when I went to the site holding the event there was a contest to enter to win 2 free entry tickets. So yesterday I went online and checked the facebook pages of the bridal shop holding the event and of the place it's being held... only a post on October 9th mentioned it and gave the date and time... then I checked both their official websites... that contest was no longer up on that one and nether mentioned it... so I called the place it was being held... went to voicemail.. then called the place that was holding it only to find out that the event was canceled due to lack of vendors.... and they didn't announce it? So now I become even more frustrated... seeing as I had 2 yeses and 1 can go for a part of it and 1 that can maybe do something before her bachelorette party I decided maybe I can take the day and change it into finally searching for their bridesmaid dresses since it is soo hard to even round them up and get them together for anything I can at least get most of them to go dress shopping... so after bouncing that plan off of 4 heads and picking a time... I go to the website of the bridal shop to check store opening and to book an appointment and they are booked solid on Saturday... I called and they confirmed and said there is no way they can handle us if we come in... So now it's back to people having off on opposite days of each other... I'm 9 months from my wedding day and I am stressed because I bought my wedding gown 8 months ago from them and I haven't heard back from them on when it will be in... which makes me nervous if I can't even get my dress within a 9 month period I am really cutting it close with my bridesmaids too... and things aren't even looking up as though I can get them in some other time this month even... I couldn't help but cry... first from stress.. and also from the lack dedication my best friends have... I can understand but also I had tried to plan this 2 months in advance and struggled to keep them on board... it wasn't an emergency and not an essential part of my wedding and it wouldn't have been able to happen anyway but it didn't really feel like anybody cared and I did.... |

Wedding Reception
Pictures of our undecorated Reception Hall
![]() A few weeks back my fiance went to our reception hall and snapped a few photos of the facility in a non-set up form. However they did have the bar area setup and the kitchen closed off behind a curtain. I really like our decision on our venue, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Wedding Cake
Meeting with Cake Decorator on Wednesday
![]() Meeting with "Sweet Nothings" Cakes on Wednesday. Their website says that their prices $500-$750 for a 3-4 tier wedding cake. Their Wedding cake designs are very artistic and I was in love with a lot of the cakes they have in their gallery. http://sweetnothingscakes.com |

Bridal Show
Signs of Love 2011 hosted by WIFC
![]() I'm falling a little behind in my planning here.... 2 weeks ago on Sunday the 11th of September I went to a Wedding Show at the Stoney Creek Inn. I got all sorts of coupons and I also won a free night's stay in a whirlpool suite there! That was exciting! I also met with a cake decorator I am interested in and I scheduled an appointment to meet with them on Wednesday. I'll let you know how that goes! Kinda sucks because I don't feel like I am really moving any more forward in my Wedding Planning. Also my fiance is trying to get a hold of a Travel Agency here on a possible honeymoon vacation to a Sandals Resort in Jamaica |

Counting Down
11 months to go!
![]() Well today is officially the 11 month benchmark to my becoming Mrs. Pollard! I feel like I am in pretty good shape as far as the things I have accomplished by this point but there is still A LOT to do yet. So far This is what we have done for our wedding: Booked and paid Reception Hall fee in full Booked Church for ceremony but did not pay fees yet Booked a DJ but paid no fees yet Booked a Photographer and put money down but still owe the rest Booked Caterer and put money down but still owe rest Selected Wedding Party Buy both wedding rings and own them in our possession Pick out and buy Wedding Gown in full Began compiling Guest List and have a first rough draft Registered at Bridal Registries Purchased Cake Topper Purchased Centerpiece Vases I believe that is all I got done so far.... Today there is going to be a Bridal Convention called Signs of Love 2011 being held at the Stoney Creek here in Wausau, WI. My mom and I are going to that and hopefully I can come back with some good information. I saw a list of the vendors earlier this week and did some research before meeting them in person. I am really excited about this one cake decorator called Sweet Nothings cakes... Their cakes looked beautiful and I got in contact with them and plan on doing a taste testing today when I am there. I am so excited! Oh and not only is this 11 months until my wedding day but it also is 1 year and 4 months since I began a relationship with my FH |

DIY Wedding
DIY Wedding Makeup
![]() I just watched a DIY Wedding Makeup video on YouTube that I enjoyed and may consider doing for myself. I agree natural is the way to go. I usually stay fairly natural when I apply my own make up but I use cheap Cover Girl and other department brands and the brands featured in this video definitely have a better more professional look to them... I may also try fake eyelashes which I have never done in my life since I naturally have long lashes.. however I do plan to test this all out before the big day: I made an item list of what they use in the video (as I know of): MAC 210 Brush MAC 224 Brush Chanel Mat Lumiere Foundation ? Mystery White Powder ? Chanel Eyeshadow Cream MAC Vanilla Eyeshadow MAC Goldmine Eyeshadow MAC Dublin Eyeshadow MAC Saddle Eyeshadow Stila Palette (Redish Brown) MAC Grachblack Eyeliner ? Mystery Waterproof Eyeliner ? - Probably MAC ? Mystery Concealer ? - Probably MAC ? Mystery Waterproof Mascara ? - Probably MAC MAC Pearl Highlighter ? Mystery Contour ? -Probably MAC MAC Dainty Blush MAC False Lashes ? Mystery Mauve Lip Color ? - Probably MAC ? Mystery Clear Gloss ? -Probably MAC |

Inspiration Board
Colors that I would like to use in my Wedding
![]() The wedding dress is the actual wedding dress that I purchased for my wedding in ivory. I like the look of the darker blues with the creams and whites together. My FH is actually the one who picked the color for our wedding since his favourite color is blue.. my favourite color is a deeper purple leaning more toward the blue spectrum so I really didn't mind... blue probably would have been my choice as well.. This was an Inspiration board I threw together a few months back. Seems like most people planning blue weddings are sticking to the light blues.. if anyone has any good ideas for decorations or know somebody that has had similar colors in their wedding I am open to some good ideas... still a year away from my wedding... almost 11 months and I haven't purchased anything blue yet.. ![]() Let me know what you think! |

Wedding Gift Registry
Finally finished my Bridal Registy at Bed Bath & Beyond!
![]() It was a very fun experience and it's sad that we have completed it now... of course we registered early and some of the things we scanned may not be around for too long so we may end up going back and adjusting our registry a bit. The lady that we worked with was so friendly and made the experience fun... We loved everything there so much so that because we doubled the amount of scanned gifts from the amount of possible guests we would really like to end up with most of what we scanned for so we decided that we didn't want to register anywhere else. Our finished registry can be found here: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/regGiftRegistry.asp?wrn=-616257429& Next coming up here we are going to book our DJ, view our Reception Hall as it is setup for a Wedding, and looking into flowers. I'm so excited!!! |

Ask a Question
Geeky cuff links or garters
![]() I was wondering since I kind of already searched the internet and checked on etsy... does anyone know of any place or any one that makes or sells geek related wedding items like cuff links or garters? I know my fiance and I don't look it... but we are actually both pretty huge geeks. He's into Android, cellphone things, and video games... and I am into Anime and video games myself. We both played World of Warcraft together and I'm mainly interested in finding something either Android, Horde from WoW, or Final Fantasy related. I know I could probably make these items myself since I am actually pretty creative and enjoy doing so but I am not sure how... I'm artsy but I am no seamstress... not sure how to make my own garter or how to customize it in a geeky way... not like I can buy fabrics with these themes on them... I saw some people customize garters with charms... does anybody else have any good ideas? |

Wedding Decoration
Head Table Decor Ideas
![]() I was looking online for some Reception Hall Decorating ideas... mainly for how I would like the Head Table area to look. I am a huge fan of tulle with lights and think that it looks gorgeous so I found a couple of pictures online that use that and I love them. I may end up using something very similar for my own. I haven't even begun to purchase any decoration for my Reception Hall yet... except the cake topper... I don't intend to decorate the ceremony at all since it will be held in a church and the atmosphere is beautiful enough as is and we won't be there for too long anyway |
