So my Fiance and I got engaged in October of 2010 and we set a date to be married on August 11th of 2012. Our goal was to put aside $500 per month into savings starting January 2011. That'll put us at $6,000 by the end of this year and about $10,000 by August. We are already off to a great start as we have actually been plugging in about $600 a month so far since January which has saved us about $1800 to date. We have already pulled from the wedding savings though to hold/ pay in full our Reception Hall which was $1,575 and also almost pay off my fiance's wedding ring which is $1,600. Reason being is we are actually spending some of our play money on wedding items which may allow us to go over our 10k budget a little bit. :)
