i like this cake topper and design too.
I love this assymetrical multi-design in sage, chocolate, and ivory. Monogram or heart cake topper dipped in chocolate

something like this sans the chocolate cake topper. And the background could be either sage or ivory.

Fun you can eat!
Once again, I'd like to incorporate the spanish iron work motif somewhere on my cake, but I'm still not sure of all the elements I want. I think I want the scroll work design, sugared ribon or beadwork border, and maybe some floral, but I don't want the cake to be overwhelming. (I suppose if I load it with all those things it very well could be, lol!) I'm also not certain what type of cake topper I'd like. It's a toss up between something floral or our monogram. We're doing the cake tasting in mid-February to figure out the filling. I'd love some suggestions!

4/21/08 Update
We finalized our cake design last month. It will be a square, three tiered, assymetrical multi-design with fun patterns on each cake layer (dots, swirls, and stripes, something fun and zany like us). The colors will be sage and chocolate on an ivory back ground with a strawberry butter cream filling.

The design is pretty contemporary, so I don't think we'll add any floral. But for a fun cake topper, we're going to find a simple "N" monogram (for both of our first names) or two hearts and have it dipped in chocolate to match the cake.

It seems to me you generally go for the circle cakes, which are magnificent in their own right. I, on the other hand, like the square, hexagon or not-so-tradtional designs. I really like the idea of a monogram cake topper and my favorite design out of all the ones you've pictured is #3 but in a larger scale, minus the cake topper!

Also, an idea to throw out to possibly save a few pennies: I've heard of people doing their wedding cake in Styrofoam and decorating it. The bride and groom have a piece marked where they "cut" into the cake for the cake ceremony. Then, the caterer or whoever is in charge of the cake, whisks it away to be "cut" for the guests. Meanwhile, there is a sheet cake (much less expensive to make) already cut in the flavors you and your fiance choose. Remarkable, huh? Just a thought!
