Favors
Something yummy to say thank you
Favors are such a hard call to make. On one hand it's nice to give guests alittle something special to take home. On the other hand I've been to alot of weddings. Most of the favors end up in my junk drawer. And I've read an article or two from caterers who have to clean up at the end of the night. They end up throwing away tons of left over favors. What a waste of money! I either want to give guests something they can eat or something they can use, and I don't want to spend too much in case they do end up in the trash. I thought personalized cd's of our favorite songs would be nice...but I've gotten one of those before. Unfortunately it's in my junk drawer...unopened.

6/15- Michaels was having a great sale! 15% off of everything in the store, plus 50% off one item. My mum-in-law to be and I hit them up for everything they had and picked up the wedding favor boxes for 50% off! Now I just need to figure out what to fill them with... I'd love to do ivory and green jordan almonds or personalized hershey kisses, but we'll see!

Oh, the daily trials and tribulations of being a bride to be! I know EXACTLY what you mean! My FH and I discussed this to no end last year. My decision: If I'm going to spend money on something for my guests, it's going to be a small amount of money--it's our day, not theres. When I spend money on my guests and they don't like where the money was spent, too bad. I'll keep the favors they don't want! It's that simple for me. I'm going to ask my matron of honor and bridesmaid to collect the favors that weren't taken home after the reception. That way, my FH and I can use them. My favor: flower seeds in a little pouch with a ribbon that matches our colors. The End!
Happy planning! I hope you find a nice idea/solution and please share!

You really can't go wrong with food favors, especially things like chocolate or candy. I've heard of people doing candy bars and have empty favor bags at the bar and those that want to take some candy do and those that don't want any dont and nothing is really wasted  (unless you get some kind of candy everyone will dislike). Favors are meant as a small thank you for the guests presence at the wedding.  I discourage anything personalized, who's going to use a bowl or a mug with YOUR wedding date on it (probably your mom or sibling only).

One neat idea I saw recently is gum. The wedding was pink, the bride and groom bought a bulk of Orbits gum in the pink (cigarrette like) package, printed their own labels that said thank you their names and wedding date and had them as favors.

I'm doing a candy bar with various candies in our colors and candles that are in my theme (candles are part of my table decoration as well as they will be placed at each plate setting).

I love all the ideas, i think that the corkscrew is really cute, and it's always good to have one even if you don't drink. i really like the shot glass. My favor were wedding cookies in a pouch with a ribbion, so any thing people eat would be good to.

i completely agree with you! we've been debating about favors also...i think we've decided finally on doing a donation instead! - we're going to donate to the BC children's hospital - maybe just give people a little sour soother or baby candies or something for a treat but then leave little notes on the table saying in lieu of favors we have made a donation on your behalf...
just a thought!!
