Wedding Dress
A dress I like that actually may look good on me!
I went to the Custom Bridal Couture website featured here on WBC on a whim, and I couldn't believe my eyes...
I found a dress that looks lovely and might actually look decent on my plus-size frame! (I've added a picture from my private ceremony in Alaska for reference). I've always liked the Grecian look, and this dress reminds me of it. I've already created a look for it. Isn't it gorgeous? Yay for Custom Bridal Couture!! Must...get...dress! |

Wedding Dress
Maybe I should go with vintage classiness.
I can't imagine myself in purple. I've tried and I really can't. I could be the self-esteem talking, but I find myself desiring to wear white - again! Can you believe it?
I love this vintage look. A dress with bling-bling has always appealed to me. Everything from the flowers (though I still want my Princess Lasertron Flowers) to the birdcage veil does it for me. Of course for my dress, it would be a-line, and I would definitely buy a proper corset to suck in my gut. I'm beginning to realize that I am all for a class affair with a touch of kitsch and offbeatness. Is that even possible? |

Ask a Question
Instead of a bouquet toss, how 'bout a dance-off?
Let me just say it right now. There is no way in hell I'm giving away my bouquet.
The bouquet toss tradition never sat well with me. Maybe it's because of the spills and near-all out brawls I remember with all the other weddings I've gone to. I mean, are you really pushing grandma and your five-year-old niece onto the ground just so you can catch some flowers and pray that rag about being the next bride comes true? Bah. I've caught the bouquet once, and it still took me seven years to get married. So there. Anyway, I don't particularly like this tradition, so I've thought of a replacement. I will have a mini version of my bouquet made, and then, I will call all the ladies (not just the single ones) onto the floor for a dance contest. I'll be the judge, but maybe I'll ask for help. I've picked two songs that may be played: "Singles Ladies" by Beyonce OR "Check on It" by Beyonce Apparently, I really like Beyonce. Whoever dances their ass off gets wins the bouquet, and bragging rights. What do you all think? Thanks in advance for the help. |

Family Style Dinner
Martha Stewart, I blame you!
I admit. I haven't had a very good experience with family-style dinners. In weddings of the past, family-style dinner options meant dry roast, bland chicken, and over-saucy lasagna, if that makes sense. Even though weddings were held at different venues, the result was always the same - icky and forgettable. I was very determined to not to have a family-style dinner because of my memories. That is, until, I saw this spread from the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings.
WOW! Now THAT'S what I call Family-Style. I tried very hard not to salivate all over the page, but everything look yummy, colourful, and NOT BLAND AND DRY!. Now, I want to work with the chef to create a family-style dinner no one will soon forget. |

All Hail the Cuppycake!
My husband and I aren't big on traditional cake, especially buttercream or fondant, because we've both worked in a bakery before (well, he still does, I do not), and we're sick of the stuff. So in addition to plying our guests with exquisite cheesecakes, we plan to have cupcakes as well. I'm not sure of what kind yet, but I have time to figure it out.
So allow me to regale you with beautiful images of cupcakes that inspire me to have the best cupcakes at my renewal. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

A Side-Swept Ponytail
Ponytails vs. Updos - what do you think?
I don't know if I want an updo, I used to, but I'm thinking if I got with the Marcia Cross clone, it'd be better to have a side-swept ponytail. It's just an elegant, but there's definitely a vintage vibe going for it. It also works for me because I won't have hair in my face all the dern time. Especially good when I'm on the dance floor.
I've added the previous updos I had in mind for my dress as a comparison. We're having an evening wedding, so of course, an updo would fit because it's so elegant and classy. But I don't know, I like the idea of the side-swept ponytail. It's elegant as well, and it fits my personality. Help me out, ladies. What do you think? Thanks for your consideration. |

A Dress Idea...
...for your Consideration
I still have time to look for a dress, especially since I'm having it made, but I submit this dress, for your approval, but imagine in lavender with a red sash. I just don't know if I would wear lavender shoes or red shoes. I can say that I will have a red tulle petticoat underneath it.
Marcia Cross, you have an awesome sense of style. I'm also going to have a white sweater made for embellishing. I have to have some personality with my outfit! I just don't know what the embellishments will be quite yet... |

Lavender and Red
Quite possibly, the sexiest combo ever!
Last year, I picked up an issue of Martha Stewart weddings (it's the only traditional wedding mag that has substance for me), and they had a little ditty on a possible wedding colour combo - Lavender and Red. Needless to say, I've been hooked every since.
It's such a bold palette that pops out at you, and that's what I'd like. Nobody would ever expect to see these two colours together, and that what makes it work. My bouquet will be created by Princess Lasertron, but I'm thinking of bold red roses and lavender hydrangea bouquets in clear square containers. Or maybe purple flowers with red beads or in a red vase. The possibilities are endless. Husband might be hesitant, but I have ways of changing his mind *evil laughter, rubs hands* |

Tradition vs Offbeat
Who will win this eternal match-up.
My husband is like most grooms - not really interested in helping to plan a wedding/vow renewal and has unceremoniously left the task of planning this shindig to me (Oi). Still, I feel like that this is our day, so he should at least give me some input right?
Famous last words. When I asked him what kind of wedding/reception we should have, he says "I want a regular one". And he says it in a way that means normal centerpieces, normal dance songs, and forgettable menus. He even insinuates that he'd be okay with the traditional line dances, like the Electric Slide, the Cha-Cha Slides, and *stomach turns* the Chicken Dance. I stared at him in horror when it mentioned that. I. DO. NOT. WANT. Ever since I started reading Offbeat Bride and Rock N Roll bride, as well as other sides, I know that I want a wedding that's different but just as special. I don't want regular flower bouquets - I'm thinking of making flower-and-button stem centerpieces. I want to say Dr. Seuss vows to my husband. For a while, I planning to wear a dress with a dual coloured petticoat (I still might, who knows). I want my son to come down the aisle in a pimped-out Radio Flyer. Instead of a first dance, I want a first Rock Band. I've already compromised by having a more traditional wedding dress and all but giving up my Wedding Con idea. But I know I don't want a completely normal wedding. Still, I have a feeling my husband will offer his "opinions" ever step of the way. Anyone else have this problem? The battle begins. |

Say Yes to the Dress
While I'm going to have a seamstress recreate the dress, I can't help but say "yes" to Julianna by Christos. In the end, the thought of a dress covering my legs appealed to me. And with my husband's desire for a "normal" ceremony and reception (I'll get into that later), I thought at the very least, I'd have a normal wedding dress. However, I can assure you right now that not everything will be normal.
Cheesy flowers. A dry meal. The Electric Slide. Nah, that ain't me. But at least I can say yes to this traditional dress. |
