Wedding Budget
Ughhhh!!!

I didn't know that a wedding cost so much. When we first started planning our budget was $8,000. Now we are now at $15,000 and counting. Before it is over i'm guessing that the wedding will be somewhere around $17,000. The venue alone is $6,000.

Wow! Well just breathe! Take a look at what you're paying for and determine what is most important and cut your budget where you can.

$8,000 is do-able if you are smart about it...... I'm pulling it off.  Probably less than that  =)

We had hoped for 9,000$ but when we began to research our area we knew that was impossible. The things we are doing to keep it at 12,000$ are small weddign party, non flower centers, wine and beer only bar, seriously limiting the guestlist! Good luck

i agree with mibride080610 sit down and make a list of whats most important to you with everything! i cut my budget a lot by cutting flowers, im doing ribbon bouquets for my girls, making the guys, and the mothers and grandmothers, i have no flowers in my centerpiece. i was also going to do the m&ms with the words on them, i went to the sweet factory and got twice as much for less than half of what i needed. also cut decorations, if its not critical that you have it dont have it. the bigggest way to cut the budget is the guest list, go here: http://paperandthread.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/whomtoinvite1.jpg
if you cant invite EVERYBODY they will understand, weddings are expensive and a lot of people especially now in this economy are on a budget. just send them a picture and announcement afterwords.
also DIY it up man. anything you can make do it!!! that saves tons!!! one thing you DO NOT want to skimp on is photography and videography, thats something you will have forever. If you want cheap guest gifts check out my page, i did shot glasses i got on ebay, the lady i worked with was awesome. I didnt want to buy some cheapy shot glass that will break right away so i asked her to send me some samples they are high quality plastic that is virtually impossible to break are diswashed safe, and im so happy with them, i only paid 88 not including shipping for 150 of them. they are about 58 cents per guest.  her ebay name is factory_21  heres a link for their page http://myworld.ebay.com/factory_21&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSX:SELLERID

i hope that helps,

If it makes you feel better our venue is $10,000, that's dinner, midnight buffet, NOT including bar and having 200 people at the wedding!

Girl, I started out with a $20,000 budget and ended up spending close to $60,000. (we both have expensive taste and love nice things). But I have no regrets because it was my dream wedding, professionally done and people are still talking about how grand the affair was.
Advice: if you can hire you a day of coordinator:)
