DIY Wedding
Card Box Made!!
I know I'm a purple bride :) but our cocktail hour is red and black so this has to match that room.
This is a work in progress so some of the pics have the lace on top and others don't. I want to put something on top, not sure if it will be the lace in the end! BUT I am really proud of this one :) This cost me $29 total! Damask Boxes: $8 and $6 (Big Lots) Flowers on Sale $3.29ish (Michaels) Red Ribbon: $3.50 (JoAnn Fabrics) Red Rhinestone Trim: $6.97/Yd on clearance (JoAnn Fabrics) White Pearl Trim: $0.97/Yd on clearance (JoAnn Fabrics) Black Paint: $1.00 (Michaels) Top of box needed paint, it was stripes. I love it. I think it looks stunning! xoxoxo |

DIY Wedding
Oh yes I did!
Ahem...I think I can now officially join the DIY club cause baby, I just DIY-ed my "here comes the bride" banner! What!!??
I love the way it turned out. I bought pretty fabric that I liked, pretty lace edging, busted out my trusty hot glue gun and glued everything together and then stenciled the letters on with fabric paint and those cheap foam brushes! Total: $18.00 from Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics!! woo-hoo! p.s. I realize my "O" is ridiculously out of place :) |

Petal Cones
Update: added lace doily to each cone. Love it now.
As I stood there waiting for the plumber (who was 3 hours late) to fix the leaky toilet, I started rummaging through some old scraps of paper and ribbon and left over butterflies and I thought "I could make petal cones!" Didn't think I would do this, but hey why not?! This is the easiest DIY I have done and I think they came out pretty nice :) I used a hot glue gun to affix everything together. To do (I did): 1. Folded half sheet of paper until it formed a cone shape (takes some playing with the first time). 2. Punched 2 holes on top. 3. Threaded ribbon through holes and hot glued the ribbon onto itself (didn't want knots or bows). 4. Hot Glued butterfly. 5. Printed little instruction banner and glued it in a "waving in the wind" manner. All supplies were from Michaels. Will hang these on the chairs closest to the aisle up and down the row. Verse: "As the new bride & groom walk your way, toss these petals and celebrate!" Fun and easy.... xoxooxxo |

Cocktail Hour
It's all in the details...
Update: Received the personalized napkins for the cocktail hour. I really like them.
Our awesome caterer suggested we have monogram wedding napkins for the passed hors d' oeuvres cocktail reception and I thought it was a great idea!!! These are a very inexpensive but cute detail. Paid $29.99 for 150 lunch size (6.5 x 6.5- larger than the beverage napkins) with 3 lines of silver foil text on ebay. Love details! xoxoxo |

Ask a Question
Ever thought of renting DIAMONDS?
Came across a site that rents [bridal] jewelry (the real stuff)! I know that stars do it all the time. So I was thinking that this might be the way to go? The pieces vary but rental starts at about $75 a piece...
I would be scared of losing it (they charge 33% of the retail price if it's not returned). Hmmm... Would you do this or have you? Site: www.adornbrides.com |

Bathroom Baskets Complete
Combined posts:
Just wanted to post the finished product (at least as far as I'm concerned at the moment) and if any of you follow my blogs you know that I will probably change my mind in a month or so :) All products from the dollar store (not complete yet). What I have so far: *Safety Pins *Gum *Hairspray *Eye drops *Antacid *Body Spray (deoderant) *Static remover spray *Q-Tips *Hand Lotion *Nail Files *Bandaids *Moleskins for the ladies (for sore feet and tender spots from heels) *floss Chair Holders from Ross: $12.99 each I decided not to use a poem (although Aimee114 shared a really great one in the comments if anyone needs one for your basket)...and I kept it simple for lack of space since I am currently on a stamp frenzy...ha! I placed black felt (29 cents from Michaels) in the bottom so the items would stay put and the sign is a piece of wood that I painted white, stamped with the saying and done! xoxox |

Diet Time!
My plan...Paleo (Caveman) Diet
I am starting tomorrow! This is less of a diet and more of a change of eating habits. I've done a similar "diet" before for over 6 months and it works. This plan requires a lot of discipline. The first week or two will be tough but after that a habit will have formed and you won't know how else to eat other than this!
The Paleo Diet is sometimes referred to as the caveman diet b/c of the complete elimination of anything processed! That's right, nothing that comes out of a box or bag or can is allowed. I will break down the foods below: Allowed: -Lean Meat (all that you want): beef, lean pork, lamb, chicken breast, turkey breast, any fish, any seafood, eggs. -All veggies, except potatoes, corn, beans, and peas. -Any Fruit is acceptable! -Nuts and Seeds are great (but no peanuts!) -Any spices, herbs, tomato paste, chkn broth, salsa, coconut milk, olive oils, avocado oil. Not Allowed: -No sugar and NO artifical Sugar (no splenda, etc) -No junk food (cake, chocolate, etc) -No grains (not even wheat, no corn, pasta, bread, cereal)...I will eat steel cut oatmeal although it states not to but can't have instant stuff. -No beans (peanuts, soybeans, soy, tofu) etc. I will have soymilk in my latte in the a.m. -No dairy (milk, butter, cheese, cream) -No processed or man made stuff. If you don't make it, you can't eat it. It's extreme!! I know!!! But it detoxes me and the weight drops quickly and the energy goes up! I eat every 2 hours...small "normal" portions. **Note: these are MY food choices that work for me. If you want to follow the diet with no cheats (like my protein powder and oatmeal) then please refer to paleo diet websites for menus.** Sample breakfast (for me): -Protein Shake: blend protein powder, water, almond butter, 1 banana, and steel cut oatmeal. Filling and tastes amazing actually! -Egg whites or whole eggs -veggie omelet w/ a slice of turkey -Steel Cut Oatmeal (no sugar) -fruit and almond butter parfait Sample Snack (for me) 2 hours later: -Celery stick with almond butter -apples with almond butter -fruit (grapes, apples, mangos, etc etc) -protein shake -veggie sticks -Raw Nuts (anything except peanuts)...thank you Don (I didn't mean raosted) -small fruit salad Sample Lunch 2 hours later: - Chicken Salad with olive oil and Vinegar (any veggies I want) -Any fish dish with veggies (salmon, tilapia, tuna) -Chicken parm with grilled breast and tomato sauce (no cheese) -beef stew -turkey breast with green beans -the point is to get protein and veggies in. Sample Snack 2 hours later: same as above snacks (different choice)...get creative. Sample Dinner (when I get home): -Lean Steak and veggies -Vegetable lasagna (just no pasta) -Chicken stir fry -Any chicken dish (lemon and herbs, jerk chicken, garlic chicken etc) - Pot roast -Pork tenderloin w/ brussel sprouts (my favorite veggie!) -Stuffed Peppers with ground lean turkey and tomato paste -Ribs - Sushi/Sashimi (no rice!) Sample last snack 2 hours or an hour later: -Sugar free jello (this is a cheat!) -something from above snacks -blueberries -Freeze watermelon juice or any other fresh juice and eat as popsicle Wish me luck and good luck to you if you are trying to shed some weight and/or get healthy :) |
