Wedding bands for the cost concious
We were at the jewelers the other day looking for our wedding bands when we found out about an awesome alternative to white gold! It's called Palladium. It is a rare and lustrous silvery-white metal (from Wiki). It looks just like and other white gold, but in todays market, MUCH less expensive!!
When we picked out one we liked for Danny, we got sticker shock at the tag price. $1500!!! The Jeweler ran the current value of the ring again and amazingly, the price for Palladium had gone down recently! We got his ring for $500!!!!!! I would definitle check out palladium ladies! |

Tux Shopping
The color looks a little blue, but it is really a dark smoky teal. The Tuxes are from Savii Formal Wear. The tuxes came out to be free for the groom, and $123 for the groomsmen after a $25 off per guy. The father of the bride's tux is 1/2 off, bringing it to $61.50. All and all, not a bad deal!
Another plus about Savii is that they have a local warehouse; unlike Mens Wearhouse who only have one in Texas. SO, if you go with Mens Warhouse, you better make sure everything is right/ no one has gained or dropped weight dramatically or else YOU will be paying for overnight shipping from Texas!! |

Why no one should go to Jared's
When Danny proposed, it was during our christmas vacation with family in St. Louis. We were visiting from Las Vegas and only had a few days until we had to fly back. I have freakishly thin fingers, and the ring was a size 6. It was WAY too big! Unfortunately, I got sick the day we were supposed to go to the jewlers to have my ring sized, so Dan just took it on his own and had them make it a size 5. Well, it was still too big! When we got back to Las Vegas, I took my ring to Jareds to be sized (4.75!) again.
When I got the ring back from Jareds, I noticed there was something off about my ring. The setting looked slightly different. I explained this to Danny and he thought it looked fine. I shrugged my shoulders and told myself I was crazy. I had only had the ring for 3 days, after all. It would be impossible to remember every detail. I also thought that if something was wrong that Jareds would have told me. As for the scuffs, I decided it wasn't too big of a deal and I would have it taken care of by the original Jeweler when I got back to St. Louis. Because of the icky feelings I had at Jareds, I didn't want to hand my ring over again and risk more damage. A few days ago we went to the original jeweler to get our wedding bands. My engagement ring has a matching wedding band. Here is what the band next to the engagement ring looks like. See anything missing? Jared's poished the millgrain right off my enagement ring! I was so mad. I should have just followed my gut and confronted Jareds about it when I had the chance. It's too late to do anything now but warn anyone who wants to use Jareds for resizing purposes. Thankfully, my original Jeweler says that they can put the millgrain right back on there free of charge! For St. Louis brides, check out Lordo's Jewelers in Ladue. That is where Danny bought my ring, and they are fabulous. It's a family owned jeweler with a reputation for making customers happy. Plus they have the most stunning collection of diamonds I have ever seen. I mean, come on Look at my ring!! |

Great Make-Up Tips Resource!
I was researching wether or not mineral foundation was a good choice for wedding makeup (which I found out it is NOT) and I stumbled upon this blog. Here is a link to a list of wedding day make up tips by a real make up artist. Check out the other great articles on the site as well, they are worth reading no matter of you are going to DIY or Go All Pro. http://studiomariepierre.com/blog/2008/01/21/tips-by-marie-pierre/ (Excerpt) Tips by Marie-Pierre On the big day, all eyes and camera will be on you. How will you put your best face forward? With long lasting, flawless make-up. The use of sheer colors will create an overall glow resulting in a very natural luminous look. Remember, bridal make-up should enhance your natural features, not hide them. 1 Think timeless Your wedding photos should withstand the test of time. No one wants future Grandchildren laughing at Grandmas eye shadows! Steer clear from trendy make-up. 2 Warm up your skin For best photographic results, natural warm and soft pinks work great. Avoid products with too much shimmer and frost, they do not show up well in photo and have tendency to make your skin look oily. Bronzing powder does wonder on most skin. To achieve a sun kiss glow, place on areas where the sun would naturally hit, forehead, bridge of nose and cheeks. Dont be scared of that blush, use enough for it to show in photography, theres nothing prettier than rosy cheeks. 3 Fabulous lashes Play up your eyes while wearing minimum make-up. The use of single false eyelashes will enhance your eyes without looking like a drag queen. False lashes are a brides best friend! 4 Shadow play To add a touch of glow without overdoing it, place a small amount of white shimmery powder to the inner corners of eyes. The result, a bigger brighter eye. 5 Staying power Applying a face primer before your make-up application will help smooth the make-up and increase it staying power. Purchase a make-up fixer, which will set your make-up and help it stay put during the whole event. In the old days we use to mist hairspray on the face, nowadays many make-up company have created effective make-up fixers Theyre great. 6 Manage your shine Apply an oil control lotion to the oiliest areas. Be sure the foundation and moisturizer are oil free. Use blotting tissues throughout the day to remove shine instead of powder. 7 Longer lasting lips One of the industrys best kept secret for lips that lasts, is applying concealer as a base before your lip pencil. 8 Bye bye blemishes You just woke up with a dreaded new blemish! Try dabbing on a drop of visine, this secret weapon will help decrease swelling and redness and please dont pick. 9 Wear that sunscreen You arrive in Key West a few days before your wedding avoid getting burned, apply sunscreen religiously throughout the day. Red, flaky skin is far from ideal before any make-up application. 10 From day to evening Change your daytime look instantly by using a deeper shade of lipstick. I love red at night, but anything deep and glossy will do the trick. On your wedding day keep your make-up simple and natural. You want to look beautiful without being preoccupied by it. Be a gorgeous bride! |

Guestbook Ideas
LOVING this idea. the old man and I are music LOVVVEEERRRSSS. It will go perfect with our 'incidentally tunrned rockabilly/glamour" theme.
"...Here's another great alternative to the traditional guest book for all you music lovers. Purchase a couple of your favorite old vinyl records (your favorite song or even the wedding song would be fitting) and have your guest sign them with a metallic gold or silver pen..." We are already having a traditional picture frame display for guests to sign, but I REALLY like the idea of buying a few old records with our wedding songs on them. I can totally picture framing the signed records and displaying them in our future home. |
