It was Valentine's Day and Aaron and I had just gotten our taxes done. I figured he wouldn't want to deal with the crowds if we went out for dinner, so I tried to con him into taking me out for lunch...No luck...and boy was I unhappy. So on our way home, Aaron's boss/buddy called and asked what time we were going to meet for dinner?!?! Well - I flew off the handle at Aaron...it was Valentine's Day, why would I want to hang out with another couple and eat at a Mexican resturant...I don't like real Mexican food. Taco Bell is about as Mexican as I can handle. Anyway - I was not happy with Aaron at all and I let him know.
We got home and Aaron brought a small red box and said "I got you a little something." He wasn't nervious or anything...just excited for me to open the box.
I opened it and the outside of the box showed a Willow Tree trinket box. I started to open the box and put the sign/card to the side. Aaron said. "Well aren't you going to read it?" So I did - "You will always have my heart" it read. I felt pretty special at him taking the time to pick out a special box that ment something to him. Inside the box was a Hersey kiss. The wrapper was really weird though...like he had dropped it on the floor and had to rewrap it. When I picked the kiss up to eat it...I felt something under it...I looked at him and he smiled. Ahh - there was a ring wrapped up on the bottom of the kiss. I took it out and said "Is this for real?" He said yes. Ahh- I cried and I kissed him and hugged him for awhile. I just couldn't believe it. Everyone around us had really been pressing the issue, but he had finally done it and with such thought!
I love that I have a special story to tell on how Aaron asked me to marry him on February 14, 2008...wait...he never "actually" asked me! I accepted anyway...this was as close to him asking, and better, than I could have ever thought he would come up with!
