Gift to Parents

What are you getting? I need ideas...

Well for FMIL we are getting her a locket and putting our wedding picture on one side and her parents wedding picture on the other. Along with this we are getting her an embroidered handkerchief with our names and the date. For my mom I got nothing! I'm thinking maybe a gift card to a spa and then something a little more sentimental but I'm not sure yet.

Bottle of rum/whiskey for your dad, and you could take your mom out for spa treatments. Or a nice necklace for your mom to wear for the wedding, and cufflinks for your dad. A gift certificate for one night stay at a bed and breakfast. A nice painting to hang in their living room. Crystal wine glasses, gift certificate for a wine tasting and tour.

We chose a photographer that gives us all our pictures on a CD, no parents albums, just one for us.  This way we can put what pictures we want onto the digital pictures frames that we bought them.

We live in wine region - so we went to a local winery (Hillebrand Winery) that has a "delivery program" and bought them a 6 month package.  2 bottles of wine are delivered to their doors each month along with recipes that they can make with each bottle.  They love it.

My mom and his mom threw a shower for me so I got them each a set of 3 crystal candles from bowrings.  They loved them.

In addition to the parents' albums, I'm also getting my mom one of our wedding pics in the form of a jig saw puzzle (she loves those) and I'm getting my dad a daddy's girl frame with a pic of me and him on 1 side and an inscription on the other side (see page 4 of my blog).

One of the photographers I spoke with (but didn't actually choose) told me about this website called blurb.com where you can make your own coffee table wedding albums (you know the kind that are more like a book with the pictures right on the pages themselves??!!).  Anyways, so after we get all of our pictures back from the wedding, I'll be making a bunch of these albums cause their prices are amazing!!  So we'll get one, my parents will get one, his parents, and both sets of grandparents!!  BUT...by the time we get the pictures back and I make the albums and then they print them and ship them to me, that might be more like their Christmas present for next year!!  SOO...I couldn't wait to start experimenting with the book making software on their website, so I came up with an even better idea of making a travel book of my family's trip to France back in 2001 which was my mom's life long dream!!  All she ever still talks about is France and going back there someday lol...so I figured this would be the perfect gift to give to my parents and then it'll also be a great way for me to get familiar with the book making software and to see what one of the books will actually look like in person before I make our coffee table wedding albums!!  Their book of our trip to France will be 80 pages long (with about 250 pics cause there's no limit to how many pics or what layout you can use per page!!) and it'll only come to about $35, probably $40 after shipping!!
