DIY Crepe Paper Flower Pomanders
For my MOHs and BMs!


I am still working on ALL the crepe paper flowers but I just decided to try and make a pomander. So here it is...I also added a few pearl sprigs here and there, just to try and dress them up a bit.

I used about 20-25 flowers in one (making sure that I fluffed the flowers out a bit) on a 2 1/2 inch styrofoam ball. No glue though, they seemed to stay just fine...should I use glue? hummmmm??? The ribbon is ivory as well since all my girls will be wearing long black satin gloves. That way they'd stand out more in their hands.

What do you ladies think? Should I add more pearl sprigs or leave them as is? Glitter or no glitter? Can't wait to hear what you ladies think... ^_^

These look beautiful! I think you have just enough pearl sprigs in it. I would glue the flowers to the ball too (just to be safe), just so none fall out. I think they would look pretty with a bit of glitter on them too. I really like the glitter on your crepe paper centerpieces, and I think it would tie in the two. You are so talented! I would not have the patience to take on a project like this.

Those do look amazing, I was going to attempt to DIY them also.  Could you give me some tips, on where you got your flowers, and if the was a particular pattern to use when adding the flowers to the ball? They really look great! Very professional.  I saw some at a florist a few months ago going for $25.00 and they were not even real flowers.  All your advice is welcome on making these.

WOW---awesome as usual.  :-)  Maybe a little glitter...as long as it won't flake off and get all over your girls--if not then they look great as is.  I bought my crepe paper---but it's been sitting in a box waiting for me to begin making the flowers.  lol   For those who have an AC Moore near you...they sell it in the store so you don't have to buy online.  I think I will finally try it this weekend.  Before I begin--from the ebook did you reduce the size of the rose petal or did you use the size that printed from the ebook?  It looked kind of big to me, but maybe not once you start assembling the flowers.  I guess I should get started on cutting out all the petals......

soon2bmrsogden this was my first time ever making pomanders and it was a bit difficult towards the end...I was just careful on gripping the ball to get the final flowers put in. I figured if I messes any of them up I'd just go back and fluff them up again and it worked. So don't be worried about messing them up, really can't. My flowers were a bit tall, almost an 2 inches or so, thats why I opted for a smaller styrofoam ball. I inserted the ribbon first from the bottom up with a stick, careful not to damage the ribbon. Made a knot at the bottom with the ribbon so it would not go through. Although if you'd prefer to have some ribbon dangling then I would just tie a knot after you've selected your length. Then I just started in particular order I pushed the flowers in...I had left about an inch of the stem on each flower. Gosh I hope this helps...I am really bad at giving directions. I'll post more pics on some steps of making these. Visuals always help me! ^_^

jnowak, as far the flowers go...I actually made them myself out of ivory crepe paper ^_^ I have a previous post with more information on all my supplies and a video on how to make them. I really had no particular pattern at all...as you're working them you'll find the areas where to place the flowers. I some what gave instructions on my comment to soon2bmrsogden, sorry I know they are not the best! Thank you very much for you comment!

tiggre99, once again thank you for your lovely comments! I think I will try the glitter...I was concerned however that it would get on my girls dresses...I just have to make sure to shake of the excess. As far as the petal yes I used a smaller petal I do have the template for that one in particular...I'll email to you, let me know if this is what you're looking for. What color are you doing your flowers in? ^_^ Can't wait to see...I know the feeling but once you get the hang of it, it'll go by faster. Oh I eliminated a step from the flower making...if you are using a strong glue then I skipped wrapping the stems at the base of the flower with the thinner floral wire and just went straight to wrapping them with the floral tape and it worked! That step was a pain in the bum! ^_^

Thanks for sending the template!  I was thinking of trying the rose (except probably not as many petals as what suggest in the book because that would be a lot of petals to cut) since I will be doing a pomander ball and there will be more than one flower--it should work out...hopefully.  :-)  But I love how yours tured out so I will have to try both to see which flower looks best.  And I plan on doing my flowers in red and white.  I will be using them to line my "aisle" since I will be having an outside ceremony so I was thinking of alternating one red, one white, OR making a mixture of the two...not sure yet.  I'll have to post when I finish (as long as they look good hehe).   Thanks for the tip about nixing the floral wire--I'm all about shortcuts.  :-)   All of your tips, advice, and helpfullness has been awesome!

Again, these are fabulous. I like the pearl sprays, and if you have more on hand, I would put them in. However, they look wonderful as is.
Also, I was hoping you could send me the pdf book. I sent you an e-mail asking for it a while ago, but I guess it didn't work :-(
