DIY Ivory Birdcage Veil Done! ^_^
Once again couldn't have done this...

with out my mom! Thanks MOM! You ROCK! ^_^

Here are the supplies I used for my bandeau birdcage veil...and some of the links!

French Birdcage Netting in IVORY, 9" wide, vintage look. Many other colors and sizes too!
AnnasBridalLaceandFabrics

Ostrich Feathers available in many other colors too!

Swarovski Brooch for the center of the flower and for the other end of the veil which was totally my mom's idea, and it worked great!

I went with the ivory Gardenia Crepe Paper Flower that I previously made...THANKS LADIES FOR YOUR VOTES!

We tried to get good pics as we were making the veil... we didn't have a pattern to follow so my mom just shaped it and pinned it with bobby pins as I held it in place. Then she sowed the two ends and we ended up glueing the the flower to the veil. We did not place it on a comb though...I will just be using bobby pins to hold it in place.

I will be wearing my hair down with a part on the side and lots of glam curls like Rita Hayworth! ^_^

Hey there! I have to say, your blog alone was the reason for me to become a member. I found it shocking how many similarities we had in our own visions for our own weddings.
This, the birdcage veil, is something that i have been wanting to do, but I am scared of really messing it up.
I hesitate ordering the fabric, for fear i will goof it!
Honestly, how was it, would you advise looking up a pattern or just winging it? I would really appreciate the help on this.

I adore your blog, and your style of writing!
Best of luck to you!!
Sara

Thank you sooooooo much blacktahoe for your lovely heart warming words ^_^   I know how you feel...I tried to shape/assemble the veil by myself but that didn't work so I asked my mom to help. It was much easier for some one to actually shape it as you're wearing it. Do you have someone who could help you?

Mom actually ending up tying both ends of the netting and cutting of the excess and then sowing the ends. If you order the fabric from the ebay store I did, its not expensive at all to order more just in case. I searched and searched on the internet for patterns but had no luck...so we had to wing it. I was looking for the blusher style but we ended up going to the bandeau style instead. Which is ok because it still looks like a blusher. We just mostly went off of pictures...my mom would place bobby pins to see where to gather the netting as I wore the veil.

Honestly it wasn't hard but of course we had a few trys before we got it right! It took us about an hour. Gosh I hope this helped....I so suck at giving directions.... ^_^ Thank you once again for your AWSOME comments!

Gorgeous. Absolutely stunning. Your mom is a real fashion designer! Making asilk and boa pillow, a fabulous one-of-a-kind birdcage veil - I send her tons of props. Your flower looks fantastic on there too. Just amazing.
