I knew from the beginning that my FH's family wouldn't be able to attend the wedding. His only family is his mom and his 12 year-old sister. They live in a different country that's hard to travel out of. And we're already short on money, and there's just no possible way to bring them.
This situation makes me really sad. I can't even imagine how he feels. I mean, imagine not having your mother or father at your wedding. Or imagine not being able to attend your child's wedding, to not be able to share that beautiful special moment of tears and joy with them, and to miss the father-daughter/mother-son dance.
When he tells me how he feels, I am at a loss for words. I don't know how to console him or what to say or do to make him feel better. Sometimes I cry by myself, and I can't tell him that because it will make him feel worse.
I'm sure our wedding will be a very happy day, but it will also be clouded by the absence of his mother and baby sis.
Has anyone else delt with something similar before??
If not, maybe they can be on speaker phone? A toast can be given over the phone and speaker? There is a way...Just with technology. Good luck...
or if you could do a destination wedding to where they are? just a thought...
