Family
The Sad Part

I knew from the beginning that my FH's family wouldn't be able to attend the wedding. His only family is his mom and his 12 year-old sister. They live in a different country that's hard to travel out of. And we're already short on money, and there's just no possible way to bring them.

This situation makes me really sad. I can't even imagine how he feels. I mean, imagine not having your mother or father at your wedding. Or imagine not being able to attend your child's wedding, to not be able to share that beautiful special moment of tears and joy with them, and to miss the father-daughter/mother-son dance.

When he tells me how he feels, I am at a loss for words. I don't know how to console him or what to say or do to make him feel better. Sometimes I cry by myself, and I can't tell him that because it will make him feel worse.

I'm sure our wedding will be a very happy day, but it will also be clouded by the absence of his mother and baby sis.

Has anyone else delt with something similar before??

I'm so sorry to hear of your sad news. There are no words of encouragement that can replace having your family there at such an important moment in your life. I just pray that God can comfort him, you and his family as well. Much love and hugs being sent your way.

Sorry to hear that. That must be such a horrible and empty feeling. Is there a way that you guys can set up a web cam of a sort for them? Do they have computer access? It may be cheaper to set up a web cam at the reception and wedding?  I'm not really computer savy, but there is a way. Think about the military and how they communicate with their loves ones by cam?  That would be awesome to have that available and everyone can say hello and party along with them. Especially toasting to them.

If not, maybe they can be on speaker phone?  A toast can be given over the phone and speaker? There is a way...Just with technology. Good luck...

Yes, that's what we're trying to figure out. We could set up a web cam, but we're not that computer savy either...good thing we have friends who are. It won't be the same, but that's as close as it will be.

@Rodrhonda4ever- that is such a great idea! I hope that is something that is possible. Anything to ease this heartache.
