One of the gardens and one of the lodge buildings. Its hard to find a good picture of the resort.

Riverside club. Riverside golf course is connected with the resort. Mountainside golf course is too, but I think Riverside is the nicer of the two.
How amazing would pictures be here? Its a bit of a hike, but not too far from the resort buildings. I think. ;-O

Venue
I have no idea. That's the short story.

The long story is too many ideas.

We thought about a destination wedding- Mexico or the Caribbean, but getting family there would be difficult and it is important to us that our families get to be there. I know a lot of couples do the destination wedding and then have an at-home reception but since the reception is usually the most expensive part of the wedding anyways, you end up with a bill that's twice as big! Budget is still reigning supreme (who's doesn't?)

So. I looked around Calgary and didn't like anywhere. Places that I did like were so insanely expensive that we would be broke for the next 10 years! No thank you. I'm finally getting my student loans paid off. More debt (unless its a house!) must be rejected forthwhith!

So. Again. I thought about going to Banff because its so close. Read budget note above!

Now I've travelled slightly further afield and am thinking about the Columbia Valley in BC. Radium and Fairmont area. Fabulous weather, gorgeous mountains, steaming hot springs. Plus my fiancee and I spent our first weekend away in Radium. We go out there a lot for long weekends. And its halfway between us and a large portion of my famille.

Sounds great! Now I just need to find a venue. Not so simple though. There are a few nice golf courses but again, insanely expensive (MINIMUM $15,000 food/beverage charge on weekends!!!! Seriously- who agrees to this!?!?)

Now I've started looking at the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. Not too expensive, lots of fun activities for people over a three or four day trip. Good food. Etc. Must. ORGANIZE!

I totally know where you are coming from! I got quotes from golf courses, banquet halls, all were so ridiculously expensive, they just didn't fit into our small budget. What we did was find a really pretty, quaint italian restaurant near our ceremony, and asked if they can accomodate our guests and hold our reception, they agreed! We're only paying $35/person for a four course meal, and no fee to rent the restaurant. Why not check out a place like that in the area you want to get married, since your guest list is small, there are probably quite a few that could accomodate. Good luck!
