Ask a Question
bespectacled brides represent

I wear glasses every day for astigmatism. I think I look good with them but when I'm a little more glammed up I like to go without them. (My vision isn't terrible without glasses but I have trouble with distances and in low light.) Since our wedding is in the evening and I want to be able to see everyone, I'm thinking of getting fitted for contacts (well in advance) and practicing wearing them prior to The Big Day so I can have the best of both worlds.

FH, on the other hand, loves my glasses. He always tells me how cute I am with them on and was sad when I told him that I didn't want to wear them. We have our engagement photoshoot this weekend and I am going to have the photographer take some of them with my glasses on and some of them without glasses, just to see how they look in pro photos.

Other brides who wear glasses, what will you be doing on your wedding day? Will you wear glasses, contacts, or go without and hope you don't wander off the aisle runner into the maid of honor?

(p.s. that is not a photo of me)

Well, I just got my eyes tested and i've decided to get some contacts.  I'm going to start wearing contacts at least 4/5 days per week to get used to them then that way I'll be ready for them by the wedding day!  I will look a little different than what I normally look like, but  I figure this is a special occasion.  So, I'm opting not to wear them.  Do what you feel comfortable with:)

I've been wearing contacts since 2000, when they were thick and uncomfy. Right now with so many options available, you should at least try wearing contacts. Start with dailies, they are very thin and comfortable, I wear them for 3-4 days (removing overnight of course). And don't get discouraged by the first experience of putting them in. You'll get better with time. I love my glasses too, but I will def wear contacts on my big day.

I have worn glasses since I was in the 5th grade and I am as blind as a freaking bat without them. They are so much a part of me now that I never even thought about getting contacts for my wedding, every time I look at the photos I would always think something looked odd  and I just wasn't really "me" in the photos.

I am wearing my glasses on my wedding day! I don't wear contacts and I rather be comfortable and myself. Everyone knows me in my glasses and they look lovely with my dress!!!!

glasses here too. i tried 'practicing' in contacts for months before the wedding, but my eyes didn't really do too awesome. i could only go a few hours before i needed to take them out. so i wore contacts for the photos and the ceremony then switched into glasses for the reception and dancing. everyone knows me with glasses and my husband was happy to have his foureyed wife back.

I've worn glasses the past couple years to help with seeing distance. A few months ago I got contacts, for the same reason of not wanting them for the wedding while still being able to see my husband down the aisle. They are nice for those certain occassions, but I have a heck of a time getting them in. Of course it is easier the more often I do it, but I tend to just grab my glasses and go. Good luck, I think you should give it a try, to at least have the option
