As some of you know, my Dad passed away when I was 14. So I have always known he would not be around to walk me down the aisle, or have the Father-Daughter Dance. I have gone back and forth on this for some time. My brother is giving me away, so I thought about doing a dance with him. But I finally decided I want to do it with my Mom. She raised us by herself, never remarried. She always said she had already had her one true love. She is the most amazing woman I know, and us kids mean the world to her, as she does to us. So I am going to honor my Mom with a Mother-Daughter dance. We will be dancing to "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion. I really am everything I am because of her.
I am also doing a special dance with my cousin Timmy. He was my Dads best friend, and he took over the "father role" after my Dad passed. My Dad was a truck driver, and so is Timmy. In fact, my Dad taught him how to drive a rig. Any time one of us is having a bad day, the other will text "Roll On." It's from the Alabama song "Roll On." Funny, it's about three kids from Illinois. There are three of us kids, and we live in Illinois. :) Any time it plays on the radio, we will call the other and hold the phone up, or leave it on a voicemail. So even though it's not exactly a slow song, it is OUR song, so we will be dancing to it. And it's also a tribute to my Father.
Anyone else doing any "non-traditional" dances or songs?
Happy Planning
