Wedding Flowers
Redo
Yesterday, I decided to nix the orange flowers I planned to use as centerpieces. I'm using more pink and peach florals now for my reception! I thought the orange orchids seemed a bit loud. Also, my bouquet has been changed from all white to a gorgeous pink and green bouquet because I noticed photos popped with color. :)

Wedding Accessories
Special Delivery
Today I received my pew bows and disposable cameras. Thank you Efavormart.com! The bows are pretty obnoxious looking with all the tulle and ribbon (gag). But I'm really trying to create a beautiful church wedding and so you gotta have the bows! I plan on buying fresh roses the day of and attaching a couple to each bow.

Ask a Question
Is it ok for the Bride & Groom to see each other before the ceremony?
We have decided on an awesome Photographer. However, he's only available for a couple hours before he has to attend another wedding. Therefore, he suggested to take our Bride and Groom photos before the ceremony so we don't feel rushed (Reception immediately following). He will be there to take the ceremony pics and his assistant will be at the reception for just an hour. I really don't know how much time it takes to do the photo session. I personally would wait until after the ceremony, but I want great pictures in the end. What would you do?

Wedding Decoration
Vase Arrangements for the Reception
Yesterday, I ordered 8 tall, square vases (22"). Instead of my original idea (see my first post) of having birch and orchids as my centerpiece, I intend to use submerged orange cymbidiums in the tall vases for a more streamlined look.
***note: flowers are tinted orange so may make water cloudy :( I will still use my original idea (without the cymbidiums) with the addition of yellow oncidiums and crystals for the guest book and placecards area. The rest of the vases will be placed in the restrooms and along the outside of the restaurant steps with balloons attached (maybe). |

Wedding Cake
Sweet Design
We picked some flavors (yellow cake with pineapple filling and chocolate with cherries) and now it's time to choose the actual style. I decided that our cake should be 3 tiers (100 slices=free delivery!), plain white, squared, and decorated with yellow oncidiums and green dendrobiums. However, I'm still undecided on adding a bride and groom topper.

Wedding Hair Style
Bridal Hair Ideas
I'm pretty sure I'll wear my hair in a half up-do with a veil. My dress is busy looking so I want my hair to be simple, modern, and elegant.

Ask a Question
Should I pay a Professional to do my Hair and Makeup?
A couple of weeks ago I went to the mall that has the only Mac Cosmetics store in the state of Connecticut! I went there knowing I would purchase my bridal makeup (their foundation and powders blend well with my complexion) because I thought it would be best to spend a bit more on makeup that I would use multiple times versus spend a $150 for makeup that lasts only one day. Well now that I purchased the products, I'm reconsidering having it professionally done. Since I plan to get my hair did at a nearby salon I don't know if I should let them do my makeup as well.

Wedding Dress
Afterthought
Back in April, I decided to get my wedding dress. However, it wasn't definite if we were having a true catholic ceremony or a marriage blessing at the church (we eloped last August in Japan!!). Therefore, I chose a gown that I thought would fit either occasion.
It was a plain, ivory A-line dress, off the shoulder, sweetheart neckline, with no embellishments from Davids Bridal. It was an okay looking dress. But when I found out we were allowed to have the actual ceremony (usually it takes 6 months in advance notice), I went to get my dress exchanged. I knew I wanted something that had that wow factor so I tried on 6 dresses that had the fixings: ruffles, bustles, lace, corsets, sequins, etc. But when I tried on the gown with organza overlay, I knew it was the one! It was so light to wear and made me feel like a princess! :) I'm soooo glad I got the exchange and can't wait to wear it on my wedding day! |

Wedding Reception
Table Dressings
After much thought, I decided to rent linens. I didn't want to have the predictable white tables with the standard, burgandy banquet chairs either. So I plan to have the tables draped to the floor with light grey tablecloths and all the chairs with beige covers with pewter stretch bands (no fussy bows!) .
So why the color grey? I chose grey because it's a modern, neutral that will enhance the color of the centerpieces and my aqua wedding favors. |
