Wedding Reception
Hotel!!
We have decided to alter our previous plans a bit....we are going to have the ceremony AND reception at a hotel. Pure convenience, I love it!! The whole bridal party will stay at the hotel the night before the wedding, and then wake up and get ready together in the bridal suite. Well, we will have 2 suites actually.....one where the ladies can get ready and one for the guys. Im going to have a hair/make-up artist come to our room instead of us having to leave the hotel for that. Another bonus....we wont need a limo!! Actually Im kind of bummed about that cuz I really wanted the hot pink hummer but I SUPPOSE its not necessary and will save us quite a bit of money!! Woohoo!!
Id like to have the ceremony outdoors in the gazebo if the weather permits!! Our reason for doing this is not only because its convenient, but I was also thinking about several other things....I dont want any drunk drivers leaving the wedding (I know thats still possible but Im TRYING to prevent the need for it and PRAYING our guests are smarter than that!!)....I also was thinking that some people may want to have a few drinks to loosen up if it helps them have more fun....but they may decide not to if they have no choice but to drive home afterwards...so if we have it at a hotel then they have the option to book a room and not worry bout driving!! Yay!! The only downside I can see is, theres a few people I can already think of that will be thinking "oh cool I can get completely smashed because all I hafta do is walk back to my room after this"............ugggggh I get in bridezilla mood just thinking about that. The last thing I want is these individuals acting like morons and ruining the night.......The best man (FH's brother) is actually on that list. He acted like a FOOL at the engagement party because he had so much to drink and I spent half the night trying to get him to control himself. I dont want to be BABYSITTING at my wedding. I refuse. But I honestly believe that no matter where we have the reception, the possibility of people drinking too much and acting like idiots is the same....Im just going to pray for some respect and hope that it doesnt happen. We havent booked the hotel yet or even picked out which one, but I will update when we dooooo!! |

RECEIVING LINES?!?
How many of you are doing a receiving line? Anybody deciding NOT to? Im a little confused about one thing.....I read in one of my bridal magazines that if your cocktail hour is in a DIFFERENT room than your reception....the receiving line can be made after cocktail hour, and the guests would go thru it upon entering the reception room....then after they are all seated, the introductions would start. Makes sense. BUT, what if your cocktail hour is in the same room as your reception?? When and where would you do the receiving line?? I just dont quite get how thats sposta go....
Also.....my mom wants us all to be a part of cocktail hour!! She thinks it would be great to have that extra time actually being able to talk with guests and not miss out on dancing!! I know theres quite a few people who do that so its not a big deal...but now Im trying to figure out where to squeeze in pics after the ceremony?? Maybe just do them quickly and head to cocktail hour? And then Im still confused AGAIN as to when and where to do the receiving line lol oh boy. I would REALLY appreciate some advice, ideas, dos and donts, etc.. Thanks so much!! :) |

ORDER OF EVENTS???
Ladies!! Please help!! Im having a hard time deciding which order I want things done at the reception....(1st dance, cake cutting, etc...)
Ive heard of some brides doing the 1st dance right after the bride & groom make their grand entrance....others choose to do it after the cake cutting... So what Im wondering.....what are you ladies doing? (Starting from right after you make your grand entrance....what order have you all decided to do things?) And I mean like as far as EVERYTHING, not just the 1st dance. When are you doing cake cutting? Bridal party dance? Father/Daughter & Mother/Son?.......... Thanks in advance for sharing your ideas!! :) |

Anybody having a Destination Wedding??
Ive thought about this MANY times and I keep going back n forth!! I was watching MTV's True Life: "Im Getting Married" earlier tonight and the one couple had theirs in Cabo...it was gorgeous!! I would LOVE to be able to get married right next to the ocean and surrounded by palm trees!! Omg it would be so awesome!! But when I 1st started planning our wedding to be in Hawaii...nothing but drama!! Both families were complaining about having to fly and blah blah blah lol. And also, I started getting nervous about the idea of having to book stuff w/out seeing it in person 1st!! (Flying there 6 months before the wedding to do this was not in our budget---a round trip ticket from Chicago is $1000 per person!! CRAZY!!) So anyway....I still am in love with the idea of a destination wedding, Im just not sure if its worth the stress and aggravation...after all, isnt the idea of it to NOT hafta stress???? lol. Well all I know is I better make a final decision SOOOON!!
Any of you ladies planning a DW? Where at? And how is your planning process going?? I'd love to hear any advice/opinions/ideas :) |

I have the worst luck!!
NWR
Ok so we decided to sell my old car cuz it hasnt been drivable for the past 2 months (the WHOLE exhaust fell off and we havnt had the extra money to fix it) Anyway...so I put an ad on craigslist last night and the calls started comin in like CRAZY!! Then this guy asked if he could come see it at 11pm last night which was kinda weird but we let him cuz we usually arent in bed til around midnight-1am anyway. So he gave us a deposit to hold the car for him and he said he would be back in the morning to pick up the car/title and give us the rest. At around 11am we started cleanin it out and took the plates off thinking he would be there very soon since we told him it had to be before 1pm. Then we had to run an unexpected errand real quick and we were gone for maybe an hour, well within that hour, the car was ticketed!!!! A $50 ticket!!! OMG IM SO MAD!!! We live in a townhouse community and the car was in the guest lot where it always gets parked....cops RARELY come thru here...maybe once a month or so. And the ONE time we have the car sittin without plates for an HOUR, we get screwed!! UGGGGGHHH!! So needless to say I am going to the court date instead of paying the ticket....I dont care if its only $50!! We called the police department to explain the situation and they said as long as we can prove the car WAS registered at the time, they will just dismiss the ticket in court! Still very frustrating though :( Grrr.
Well Im done venting now lol thank you to whoever listened!! :) |

Why Marriage?
Beautiful....
Why Marriage -Author Unknown
Because to the depths of me, I long to love one person, With all my heart, my soul, my mind, my body Because I need a forever friend to trust with the intimacies of me, Who wont hold them against me, Who loves me when Im unlikable, Who sees the small child in me, and Who looks for the divine potential of me Because I need to cuddle in the warmth of the night With someone who thanks God for me, With someone I feel blessed to hold Because marriage means opportunity To grow in love in friendship Because marriage is a discipline To be added to a list of achievements Because marriages do not fail, people fail When they enter into marriage Expecting another to make them whole Because, knowing this, I promise myself to take full responsibility For my spiritual, mental and physical wholeness I create me, I take half of the responsibility for my marriage Together we create our marriage Because with this understanding The possibilities are limitless. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Im not really sure where I found that, it was a few weeks ago and I have a horrible memory lol....but anyway, I LOVE IT!! Im actually considering maybe having a close friend or family member read it at the wedding....possibly somewhere among the toasting at the reception? Not sure yet!! |

I'd like to find a sweet song that shows him how much I appreciate him...All I can find are songs that talk about how the daddy remembers his little girl bein born and that type of thing.....my stepdad came into my life when I was 15 though so i dunno, those songs just dont seem to fit very well.......
Any of you ladies in the same situation?? What song are you going to use? This issue has been bugging me for a LONG time lol so any help I can get is GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks!! |

Shoes
Cant find many!!
I have looked EVERYWHERE for some super cute hot pink shoes to wear on the BIG day!! My problem is...they all have some giant heels on em and that will not work (Im 5'9 and FH is 6'0) ---I'd LIKE to stay maybe an inch shorter than him in pics though, so the heel would hafta be 2" or less.....every pair I have fallen in love with so far are 3-4"!! Any brides out there with the same issue? Where did you end up finding your shoes?
I only found 1 pair that I kinda like----what do you ladies think? Too casual looking? Ugly? |
