Ask a Question
How did you come up with your wedding date?
For me it was easy... We chose the the anniversary of or 1st date which was February 21st. We met on February 7th 2005.

I was working part time at Gap Kids in Toronto at the time and we met up after work. We went to see the move "Hitch". Nick thought he was so smooth, he kept on trying to kiss me, but I kept on ducking.

The wedding scene at the end was amazing, I was thinking, I want my recessional for be like that... like a Soul Train dance line... I've always dreamed of doing the same thing, but would never tell a guy that on a first date no less!

One thing he got from the movie is, when we kiss, he always goes 90%, and then says "I want my 10%".

We picked what season we wanted it in....and since he is a teacher and basketball coach and I coach volleyball in the fall....the summer is the only one that seemed reasonable.  Then to pick what weekend...he didn't want it the first weeked, cause that's when everyone has it...I didn't want it on the 13th, we have good friends whose b-days are the 20th...so we went with the 27th...so our day could be 'our' day....sorry that was a kinda long explanation....haha

I have always wanted a Fall wedding, especially in New York when the leaves will be changing colors and the weather will be so nice!  We chose October 10 because it is the weekend of Columbus Day and thought that people may have a long weekend (for those out-of-town guests!).

I have always wanted a Spring Wedding. Its too hot and humid in the Summer and too windy and rainy in the Fall. Winter was out because I totally hate winter. My Birthday is in June so I didn't want it to be in my Birthday month. I wanted it at the end of the month so we can get the June warm front and I didnt want it to be on memorial day weekend so May 30 was perfect. Last saturday of May in 09. For him as long as we were getting married he didn't care on what day.

We picked Memorial Day Weekend May 23, 2009. Jason and I don't have a lot of family here in Atlanta, so we wanted our families to come together...to meet, greet and minge...also to experience what Atlanta has to offer. The history, the culture..etc. Sorta like a family reunion type atmosphere. I'm so excited, can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Originally we wanted August 8th (0808) but the venue we wanted was booked; they were available the week after, which I was kind of bummed about at first but then realized it was my grandma's birthday (on my dad's side - he passed away when I was 9) so it actually ended up being perfect! We're celebrating our marriage and my grandma's birthday on August 15th, 2009.

We are getting married June 20...at first I just picked as a possibilty because it worked best for the both of us, but we later found out that it was my FH parents wedding anniversary and since his dad died when he was young we decided to stay with the date.

My birthday and our daughter's birthday is in August, so that's a busy enough month already. I definitely wanted a summer wedding so July seemed ideal. And within that month we just randomly picked a date.

My grandparents anniv! And I've always planned on having a June wedding.

We both wanted to be married in the summer. In Montana June is to rainy to count on a sunny day for a wedding so we crossed June off of our list. My family own a cherry orchard and harvest always falls in July sometime. You never know for sure when it is going to fall and if I choose a day in July and it was in the middle of harvest my dad wouldnt have been able to be there to walk me down the isle...So we crossed July off of our list. So we came to August 2nd, 2008 well that is the day after my twins sisters 18th birthday and wel all I could think about was the movie 16 candles and how they fogot her birthday because her sister was getting married. There goes that day.... The following weekend was my grandpas birthday so we jumped to the weekend after that August 16, 2008!!! That is how we came up with our wedding date!!!

I didn't want my wedding weekend to be near ANYONE else's birthdays, anniversaries, ect. May, June, & July are all taken by family. So we picked the last weekend in April!! And everyother weekend sux for weather and our weekend was PERFECT!!

Good stuff everyone!

We were the same, in that we didn't want to share our wedding date with holidays, or birthdays...I've always wanted a winter wedding, so here's hoping it snows!

We wanted an outside  spring wedding, but didn't want rain all over the place so we tried to pick a date as close to june as possible .  Which turned out to be May 30th. Still hoping for gorgeous weather!

(I luv that line from Hitch - I always pull that one on Brandon...)
Well we knew we wanted a summer wedding because we didn't want rain (we live in WA). So we really wanted June 20th, but my sister is due to have a baby two weeks before that date, so it was cutting it too close if I wanted her and the baby to be there. So we choose mid July because it gives me more time to plan, it is hot and cheap on a weekday.    :)

We decided on July 4, 2009 because every year we have a big family reuinion at the lake so we figured since most of our guests are coming from out of town for the reunion then they would already be here for the wedding as well. Plus 4th of July is my favorite holiday and I love the firworks and always wanted them goig off at my wedding or reception.
