Favours
Something I wasn't going to do . . .
. . . and then I had the brilliant idea of having Fortune Cookies! I love this idea so much! I had it randomly while watching the WeddingTV channel on Sky. I think it's super cute and hopefully should figure quite small on my budget!

Honeymoon
Today's very brief discussion.
We were in the car and I coyly mentioned Italy as a potential honeymoon destination and I was given the thumbs up! Obviously, because of how far away the wedding is this will be one of the last things I book, I can try and get a good deal but it's a brilliant thought!

It's kind of perfect as well, it's not too far so the flights will be reasonable, it's beautifully romantic and will make plenty of people jealous - I would say thats just right!

The Dress
Fairytale vs. Modern
I have fallen in love with Kirstie Kelly's line for Disney! I was amazed to find it at http://www.disneybridal.com/index.html and I cannot get enough of the dresses! The picture is the one I am planning on getting if possible but I know it will be way out of my budget and not necessarily that easy to get hold of as there is only one stockist in the UK! Crazy.

However, there is light at the end of the tunnel, I may be able to have one made very similar for a reasonable price.

I love how this dress is kind of fairytale but very modern and I think pretty timeless. Am I wrong or right, who cares, I LOVE IT! It's funny I always 'ooohed' and 'aaahed' over wedding dresses but I never actually thought about what I wanted, what would look good on me et cetera. Now I know!

When passion becomes obsession.
At 11:30pm yesterday I did begin to wonder if I'm going slightly insane with wedding stuff. Then I remembered that I don't care because however small the wedding, however inexpensive - success is in the planning. You can't plan too much right? I hope not.

I've been thinking about flowers, what kind of flowers are traditional and what look terrible in a bouquet (!), I love tulips but I'm wondering if JUST tulips is going to look okay?

I've also been having a moan about the colour scheme. I initially chose pink because it is my favourite colour, I love it and my fiance knows I won't go mad with it. However, I'm starting to wonder if purple might look better, a dark purple with ivory and black could look very elegant. But I'm planning a late spring/early summer wedding and it might not look right with the outdoor ideas I have going on. Any advice on how to choose the right colour scheme, colours that go etc?

Budget, budget, budget!
Budget, budget, budget!
Budget!
Inexpensive weddings that still look elegant!
The plan is to try and spend no more than £3,000.00 (around $6,000.00 for the US readers) if I can help it on the wedding. If we go any higher we will need to wait so much longer and I don't want to! I've been using the internet to find out how to save money and there are some great ideas. One of them is to be unique, less traditional weddings actually cost less!

Other fab money saving ideas:
- No favours: I know what you're thinking, crazy, but it's not as big a deal in the UK and I don't even think my guests will notice, so bye bye cute little organza bags with sugared almonds!

- No open bar: Once again I know you are probably think I'm nuts but my reasoning is simply that this is mine and my FH's wedding and he doesn't drink at all and I don't drink that much, it seems unfair we should pay out for everyone to get bladdered. They are there to look at me after all and I look good without the beer goggles (lol, I hope!)

- No sit down dinner: You fainted when you read that right? Everyone I tell this to thinks I'm crazy but I have a few ideas lurking inside about what would be better. I have given this some thought and truthfully here is why, my fiance is a bit of a fussy eater, so is my younger sister and several other close family members and I don't want to try and get a caterer to make special exceptions (for an increased cost) when it will cause more problems that it fixes. All the menus I have looked at are so rich and a little over the top for me as well. I'll get back to you on exactly what I'm planning but for now, dinner is off the menu!

- Bridesmaids dresses, paid for: One suggestion is as a gift to me my bridesmaids pay for their own dresses, something they could wear again in the future. I love this idea and I wouldn't necessarily expect them to pay for the whole thing but a contribution would be a lovely gift.

- Ipod and amplifier: One bride said their reception music was her friend's ipod with an amplifier and a selection of music she and her new husband loved! This idea is fantastic. I mentioned it to my fiance and he loved it to, started getting excited about making our own mixes. It's great for us because we are always complaining about the music played by radios and in clubs/bars, this way it would be all on us!

The Proposal
Too perfect.
My boyfriend of four years came into a little money and suprised me with a holiday to Florida for my 21st birthday, April 2008. Even more of a suprise we were going to Disneyworld! I was so incredibly excited as I have wanted to go to Disneyworld since I was about 3! It was an amazing holiday and my birthday was fantastic! It was made even more incredible as in the evening we were standing in front of Cinderella's castle and he got down on one knee, opened this little black box and popped the question! It was a complete suprise and I was so overwhelmed. I said yes a couple of times but some lady ran over his foot with a buggy! The ring was perfect, white gold, diamonds and rose quartz, perfect for me as I'm crazy about pink! We kissed and then . . . the fireworks started! The biggest one on our whole holiday and he had planned it perfectly to seem as if it were for me! Too perfect!

about my wedding
We are planning a reasonably long engagement, I have two years of university left until I qualify as a teacher and I would like to wait until then but really it's all about money. We are starting to save now and want to keep costs low so two years is about right! My only spanner in the works is that I would like a late spring wedding and in 2010 I would just be finishing my final year which will be stressful enough. This is why I may need to put it off until 2011.
