Wedding Decoration
About centerpieces...
I'm going for the Christmas thing here, so winter is an understood element. therefore I will be incorporating a couple craft sprays into my decorations, namely centerpieces.
What I have planned at the moment is having one or two largish vases with pinecones, evergreen clippings, poinsettia, and maybe even small Christmas ornaments (still experimenting), with several smaller, various shaped glasses with candles surrounding the larger one(s). the glasses with the candles will be lightly coated on the inside with a craft spray called Santa Ice Crystals. It dries and forms a layer that looks like the picture! The candle makes it look amazing.
I might also incorporate some old hurricane lanterns (the curvy oil ones with the wick), but we'll see!

Bridesmaids
I have 6!
Can you imagine? A wedding guest list of just under 100, and six bridesmaids and six groomsmen!

Anyway, here is the dress. I could only find it pictured in blue, but the green one is the color. I promise it isn't that dull looking in person - it's a really beautiful green. AND, they all LOVE it! Hurray! It took my sister (matron of honor) and I long enough to find one we both liked and looked good on both of us! Between us, we cover the range of body types that will be involved. :)

I think that's all for today; I'm going home! Catch you lovelies later!

The rest of the look!
I'll carry over the pin-up/vintage look into my makeup, shoes, and nail color choice.
Nails: Dark red, crimson, vintage red, whatever you call it. Love the look!
Shoes: There's something about little red peep toe wedges that screams pinup to me. :) I may also have a pair of red Toms standing by as my comfort go-to's
Makeup: Big lashes, a little bit of cat eyeliner shape (see pic), red lips, and slightly rosy cheeks

What do you think??

Wedding Hair Style
I'm continuing with the vintage theme
I have to admit, I am in LOVE with the style Dita Von Teese communicates. I think she's exceptionally classy (regardless of her burlesque career), and absolutely gorgeous. She's worn her hair a particular way that I've seen a few times, and I'd love to get close to it for my big day. It's almost pin-up, but very classy.
On the smaller side of the part I want to use a comb to keep my hair away from the sleeked-down look. I couldn't find a picture for you that had the comb far enough back, and they were all huge flowers anyway. Sorry!
I'll update when I do a trial run!

Wedding Dress
I have no fear!!
My Fh has no idea about this little blog, so i'm not worried about posting my dress info. I love blogging from work!

Okay, so I tried on what felt like over a hundred dresses, and I found a few I liked. One was a very classy lace affair with a long and fragile looking train. The other was a v-neck silk wonder with lots of ruching and a tiny bit of beading. It was stunning on, but I didn't LOVE it. My mother insisted we keep looking for THE dress (I was all for getting one of those two and potentially saving money, but she has a thing about "the right" wedding dress).

Sooo we keep shopping. Somehow (even though I didn't really like what I'd heard about it) we ended up at David's Bridal. I tried on about 10 dresses and was starting to feel discouraged, when my mother and sister brought me a couple "wild cards". Up until this point, I had not ventured much into the territory know as ball-gown-land. I'm sort of a fashion-conscious tomboy, so the look only really suited me in wild fantasies of glamor (oddly, I never had problems sitting neatly in those dreams). I digress.

I took a look at the dresses on the hangars and wanted to say no, but a little voice in my head came out of my mouth with "What have I got to lose?" I tried on the first one and LOVED IT. I'm telling you, I am having a small love affair with my dress. I still think it was way to expensive, and admit that I said "no" about 20 times because of the price tag, but my mother knows me too well.

It's an Oleg Cassini CWG344, and I have a classy, vintage-looking veil to match! I'll post the rest of my look next!
Sorry for the length. :( I'll shorten up my future posts.

Wedding Music And Songs
It took forever for us to decide our theme
And it actually happened at a restaurant. It was a retro-themed little place and there was quiet swing/jazz music playing. I don't know if any of you ladies are familiar with the name Glenn Miller, but I'm sure you would recognize several of his compositions - he was quite a musical revolutionary (who ever would have thought to put that many saxophones in one band?). I'm sure you know "Moonlight Serenade", and "Chattanooga Choo Choo" at the least, and this one - the one we heard that started the idea - "In the Mood". Here's a link to the song on youtube -

Aaanyway... Kevin and I started talking about music for the reception. It sort of evolved into wanting a mixture of classy swing/jazz and old Christmas tunes, at which point I said something to the effect of "like a really neat, classy Christmas Party from the '40s or 50's." [insert shocked face]
BAM! Ladies, we have a theme!

I'm doing the music selection myself (with FH's help) and we'll hire a trusted MC to babysit the playlist and announce things as they come up on the itinerary. The MC is much more affordable than a DJ, and this way we don't have to do the mocaranna! My FH is pushing for a background pianist, which I think would be lovely for the cocktail hour, but I'm working on a tight budget. If he wants to hire a pianist, their pay will come out of his budget. :)

So the playlist will sample heavily from Glenn Miller and many of my classic Christmas albums. I'll be sure to update you when we start finalizing our selections!

We're going for a vintage style Christmas party "theme" for the wedding, minimal decorations at the ceremony, and classy for the reception. I can't wait!
