Ask a Question
What are you doing with your nails?

It seems as though most people opt for the typical french, or a slightly jazzed up version using rhinestones, glitter or v-shapes.

I'll admit, I have awful nails. I have a tiny nail bed and I'm terrible for picking and biting at my nails and the skin around them. I've done it since I was a child and the only thing that stops me is to have acrylics or gels. Unfortunately, we're not in a financial situation that allows me to have the spare money to get them done anymore, so they're back to looking ragged and nasty. Then again I probably spend more on my nails than most people do- I'm in there every other day getting them repaired because they've fallen off. I'm hard on my hands and when I'm working, I work a manual labour job that requires me to use my hands constantly so my nails haven't ever stood a chance.

However, I am most definitely getting them done for the wedding. I can't stand seeing a woman all dressed up looking marvelous to then see her hands looking nasty and poorly taken care of. I'm not sure why, but its just one of those things I notice. And at a wedding, your hands become center of attention. I'm undecided about what I want to do as far as polish etc. goes. I like french- it goes with everything, there's no hassle with them etc. but I'd kind of like something a bit more me. My BM's have told me to wear a neutral color, but that's so not me- I'm the girl who has zebra stripes, hot pink, black, or some other random design across her nails. I'm kind of thinking about doing a sorta reverse french style- the nail bed being a pale iridescent shade with the tips being teal & some silver design across them.

I am just doing a plain french manicure on my natural nails, since I have pretty good nails.  I have issues with having coloured nails, I always think even light colours look strange on my hands.  French manicures are all that I can deal with.

Just white tips. I was told by my photog that designs on the nails can look a little tacky in wedidng photos, so I am going for natural gel acrylics.

I was going for french manicure and pedicure, but my photographer told me that French manicure with its white tip doesn't look good on picture because he tries to make sure the white dress stand out, and if your fingertips are white, they look funny on pictures.  He suggested American manicure so it's more subtle and still give you the nice clean look to it.

I am doing a french manicure on my toes and I have the same problem about keeping my nails long so I will be getting the bio-sculpture gel nails with a french manicure on my hands too.

Thanks for the advice! YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!! Hahaha...I appreciate it ! :-)
I would like to just get a manicure.  My nails are long as it is..I have to trim them like once a week!  So hopefully they will stay that way and I won't have to get fake ones...But if I have to then I'll probably just do the french manicure...Or just clear polish? IDK yet!

I'm still figuring that out. I took a poll on my wedding site about this and the regular french tip received the most votes, but I'm still unsure. I was thinking a little more color and maybe some sparkle.

I was like you with the "funky" colored nails but I stopped polishing them altogether a few years ago. You have given me some ideas though. So thanks!

Either nothing or something major ...

Nothing, because I'm missing a fingertip (as in, it's only 7/8 of a finger now) and there's no nail there, so it almost seems pointless to do anything.

On the other hand, I could make my fingernails look so pretty that it'll distract everyone from my missing fingertip.
