Just a few thoughts

I think we've figured out our cake! I fell in love with the design and while it's taken a little bit of persuasion to get Chris to agree to it, I'm almost certain that this is the cake we're going to have. After all, Chris gets his grooms cake, so while he has a say in the wedding cake, the final decision is mine- I'm not telling him what to have as his grooms cake! (although, I think he wants a grooms cake with a monster truck, mossy oak, john deere tractor incorporated somehow...)

What's even better is the fact that the photo is in the same colors we'd be having it in, so there's no hassle of trying to look at something and see different colors than what's presented to you.

I don't have a clue what kind of cake we'll have though. Chris wants marble, which I'm not opposed to. I'd kind of like to have one layer dark chocolate with creme de menthe filling, or chocolate bourbon cake too.

We won't be freezing or keeping the top layer. We'll take it with us on our honeymoon (if we can) to nibble on and enjoy together.

I don't understand.  Have the wedding you want.  I was going to have my guy in jeans, but since my color is brown, the blue of jeans wasn't going to work out.  But you know what?  If that's what Rush and I had really wanted, that's what we would have done!  I'm not wearing shoes, there will be NO flowers anywhere, my mother AND my father will walk me down the aisle together, the bridesmaids will not match, my puppies will make an appearance in the wedding, my dress will be short, we will have a moon bounce at the reception, and the groom's "cake" will be doughnuts!

My point is, if you want to do it then do it.  Who cares if it's never been done before?  That makes it even better!  This should be a FABULOUSLY fun day full of all your favorite things like hats, and pot luck dinners and square dancing.

we're not the ones paying for it, so we kinda have to bend to what everyone else who is paying for it wants while still keeping things to our taste.  there is *no where* around here that has a field of wildflowers and a barn large enough to hold  a reception.  our immediate families would freak. both my mother, and his dad are renowned throughout the families for their expensive taste. We're the odd balls out of our immediate family who aren't as materialistic and high-fashion as they are.

Your wedding sounds fabulous and great fun! Your guests are in for a treat when they get there.

Ah.  I definitely understand.  If my sister hadn't gotten married in a big long dress in a huge church with a southern caterer last summer, I would definitely not have as much freedom as I do.  It's probably good that you're keeping everyone happy.  In the long run, I bet your day will be much happier with the family at peace, even if you don't get everything you want.  Just relax and enjoy and be glad you'll be starting your marriage with a bit of money instead of breaking the bank for a wedding!
