Hello Ladies! Wow I can't believe I have already been married for a month! Well, I get my photos this weekend and will be putting all my do's and don'ts down for you, but I thought I would start by giving you some tips about the honeymoon. Just a couple of things that we encountered that I thought I might let you know about that might help you...
1.) ALWAYS carry extra clothing, your underwater camera, whatever is super important to you in your carry on. We arrived Monday morning and didn't get our luggage until Friday. We still had an AMAZING trip, but obviously some of this stuff would have helped. :)
2.) If going out of the country look up the exchange rate for the currency as well as what your credit cards exchange rate is. Tahiti had Franks, which our credit card had as 83 to the dollar, but it ranged any where from 70-90 to the dollar on the island. Good to know in advance.
3.) If going somewhere tropical I totally recommend investing in a real underwater camera. Brandon got me one for Christmas and we had it for shark/ray feeding, snorkeling, swimming, EVERYTHING. All this stuff is surprisingly romantic and the camera makes it that much better!
4.) If you are looking for somewhere to go Tahiti is AMAZING! The bungalows were so cool it was so intimate and romantic. The whole trip was wonderful...I would highly recommend it!
5.) Book your activities AFTER you get there. I suggest this for MANY reasons. One being if you don't get your luggage right away you can put some of your stuff further away. We were able to schedule ray/shark feeding towards the end of the week, so our luggage made it just in time with our camera. Also, on our shuttle there if we booked our activities through them they cut the price in half...had we already booked we would have paid more. We didn't miss out on anything and we saved a lot of money.
6.) If you like scarpbooking: We had two parts of our ceremony that I wanted photos to emphasis...part one the rings, so we had a blast taking our rings off and putting them every where...your photographers do it why don't you? Then I can surround that part of our ceremony with those pics. Next we did a heart ceremony...so we had a blast taking pics of scenery through our heart shaped hands to surround that pic. Great traditions to start in our new married life.
Well, that is my advice for the honeymoon. We had a couple hiccups, but it was so amazing and beautiful none of the hiccups mattered. It was perfect! I will have more advice to come shortly :)
The idea of taking photos of your rings everywhere is GREAT and the heart shaped hands. All ready for your wedding ceremony scrapbook... how thinking ahead is that?!
And that pic of you hugging your luggage is epic! So sorry you didn't get it for so long! :-O
I recommend the Olympus underwater camera. It runs about $350 but it's sooooo worth it!
We got a ton of pics together just be setting our timer on our camera it worked REALLY well! I recommend doing that :)
As for our luggage...we our flight from Reno to LA was delayed one and half hours then sat on the run way for another 15 minutes then by the time we got to LA they were so behind they said it would be another hour before our luggage was even unloaded. You have to check in for international flights an hour before or you can't get on the flight, so they told us get on the flight it is easier to get your luggage on one then you on one and that they would have it to us by the next morning at the latest. So, we left our luggage and got on our flight. Well, airlines lie. However, it really wasn't that bad...we got all the stuff we had to buy comped and got our flights for free, so in the end it really wasn't that bad :)
