A while ago I tried finding a way to incorporate cranes into the GM's boutonnières. I started folding green cranes, and it occurred to me that they could look like leaves. I think I like the look of two cranes facing each other (pic 1). I like the look of it with the bow rather than without (see pic 3).
The pics here are probably going to end up being bouts for the family, because I decided I'll make bouts for the GM that match the BM's bouquets (see last post).
Anyway, then I was fooling around and I made an origami rose, and it looks really nice on the cranes too! And the color perfectly matches the bouts I've already made.
So... should I make more of these purple roses with green cranes for leaves? And if so, what should I do with them? Are they too small to be corsages for the women? - They're the same size as the bouts... but without a stem.
What should I do with these origami roses??
I used to make roses out of crepe paper (streamers), by making a fold along a diagonal, then wrapping it around itself. I have no idea if that made any sense or not, but it's really hard to describe.
I used to poke a hole in the bottom of the finished rose, and stick a piece of wire up it, then fold the wire over, so that it stays in the rose (ie, it can't slip back down. I used to make a 90 degree "angle" with the wire).
I then added the leaves, and wrapped the wire with floral tape, to give it some bulk and make it pretty.
If you wanted to add stems for some purpose, you could figure out a way to add them with the wire from your crystal stems.
